Decouplers

I saw a thread on someone asking about locking staging, and that already exists... But I would like there to be an option to decouple a part without it shooting off.

I know struts do that, but they can weigh a lot and they look quite unseemly on really tiny probes. It surely wouldn't be too complicated to have a part without an explosive force, so that it just stays by the decoupler without shooting off into space? (Again, this is annoying when launching small probes)

1) Struts are weightless in-game.

2) Real life decouplers use explosive charges, so...

I've had good experiences with the blue ones, just as long as you don't mind an extra bit of debris drifting about. Works just like a decoupler, triggers like a decoupler, but doesn't shoot things off with great force.

Haha I came in here to suggest this, and to request it. I see no reason it shouldn't be tweakable and I can't tell you how many times I've shot a rover into the surface of a moon because I was using a decoupler

Yes, you can use struts but ideally they'll some day fix the bug where struts - which you pretty much need for any radially attached fuel tanks - stop decouplers from doing their jobs.
