Can I load two ships and connect them before launch?

Recommended Posts

I have been playing with building rovers and would like to load the rover then load a rocket and put them together in the vab.

Can I do this or do I have to load the rover and build the rocket under it?

Try saving the rover as a subassembly, under the last tab of parts. Then load your rocket and you can add the rover subassembly to it. Or you can save the rocket as a subassembly and add it below the rover.

Thank you. That was exactly what I needed.

I was able to load a rocket and the rover but the docking ports on the rover won't connect. I only get one connection point which is at the bottom of the first part I installed.

Should I be able to use docking ports or do I need a decoupler?

Try saving the rover as a subassembly...

I'd say ... prepare your rover to be saved as a subassembly first. You'll need to attach the rover to the ship somehow, and you may need to rebuild the rover so it is actually attachable that way before you save it. The part by which you'll be pulling it to the subassembly drop zone will be the only part by which you'll be able to attach it to anything.

When building subassemblies, it's best to take this thing always into account and build the subassembly already attached to some placeholder the way you'll want to attach it in the future. That placeholder is the thing you need to put to VAB/SPH first, then build your subassembly on it.

If you don't follow this procedure, and if you'll still succeed saving your subassembly, you may encounter problems when you'll be trying to place it.

@Sakata Just think not all the mods need to be updated to work with the newest version of the game, as long as that version doesn't change something the mod needs to work, which is improbable for SelectRoot (tl;dr posted version does work with 0.23.5, afaik).
