Is there a way to speed up time while using engines?

Recommended Posts

Yeah, i'm returning my kerbals back to kerbin from the mun and the escape trajectory is taking forever to get where i need it to. I have to keep burning, But it's taken forever. Any way possible to warp time with engines on?

Just be aware that "physics warp" (described here using the alt key) does "bad things". Small rockets will probably be fine, but those large rockets you're trying to push to Jool have a reasonable chance of randomly exploding during a physics warp. The general rule is:

* Quicksave first if you're going to do it.

* Don't even try on a large rocket

Getting back from the Mun really shouldn't take long though. Are you using ion engines or something?

Yeah...a Mün burn shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes even if you have lousy TWR. Flag in my mind says you need to check to see if you've got a coupler upside down and stuck to the engine; it'll look and sound like it's working but you won't actually be doing anything.

Using physical time warp shouldn't be too bad as long as you don't have some 500+ part monstrosity. I had several 20-minute circularization burns I had to do (I was placing solar satellites in low solar orbit for KSPI microwave transmission), and my decently-sized ship (It had 3 ~20 part satellites stuck to it, and it had about ~30 parts itself) was fine for the most part at 3x warp. I couldn't use 4x as the docking port would get squished and cause it to start to drift sideways, but 3x was more than enough to make it bearable.
