Problems with camera pan

I'm having problems with panning the camera whilst in flight (not in VAB). When i press the middle mouse button (MMB), the camera does pan, but only by something like 2cm before becoming stationary.

For instance; let's say that I want to pan the camera all the way to the left. I press MMB and move the mouse to pan left, but because this only moves the point of view by 2cm, I would then have to press MMB again and pan another 2cm, then again and again and again until desired camera view is achieved.

I get the same result regardless of whether I press the MMB once or press and hold the MMB.

Can anyone please help? Is there a way to rebind the camera pan to a different key?

There is always an invisible line between the camera and the craft's center of mass. Hold the right mouse button to rotate the camera's position while looking straight down this line. Hold the middle mouse button to alter the camera's angle to that line within a limited arc (the COM can never be off-screen).

Thank you for answering, but I think you are somewhat missing the point.

I know the difference between adjusting camera angle (RMB) and pan (MMB), and how they should work in-game. The problem is that whilst the camera angle can be adjusted fluidly and smoothly, the pan cannot. The pan-adjust "stutters", only moving mximum 2cm in only one direction, even though I'm holding the MMB and moving the mouse around.

Having the same issue here. I just installed the Kethane mod. This problem showed up on the first craft i built with a kethane part, but removing the part does not fix the camera pan.
