Recommended Posts

Heyho!

So my question: Is there any way to skip to a specific time? I wanted to launch a small satellite to eve (my first journey to eve). But the launch window for an eve intercept was about 300 days away. The only way to switch to the launch window was to put a plane onto the runway and then time accelerate.

I know, I should do several missions at a time, but I like to focus on only one mission.

Is there a mod for this, or even a vanilla method?

Regards

I've decided that waiting on the surface of the planet is practically the same as waiting in orbit around the sun. This may or may not be true, but it seems to work fine for me. What I mean is I just build and launch and then skip through time once in I've left Kerbin's SOI.

You'll still drift around at your leisure until you're lined up better but at least you can do something right away and play the game.

Alarm clock is also furry gut.

I'd recommend using Kerbal Alarm Clock, which can stop timewarp once you reach a specific launch window.

Thanks for the help!

I should have written it: I already used Kerbal Alarm Clock, because otherwise, i could not see the current date while "in flight" (sitting on the runway :D)

I just wondered if there is any "nicer" method.

Did not thought about that. Thanks, at least it's better than waiting on the runway.

You can also witch to any flag you've placed and go as fast as you like. You can switch to map view and hit Tab once to avoid epilepsy inducing flashes of orbits.

Do note that, if you use this method, you're spending at about 75% more total delta-V going from LKO to your destination for Eve or Duna, and the differences climb to about 100% more for Moho or Eeloo, versus burning directly from LKO during the appropriate window. If you've built your spacecraft so that you can afford those losses. and still do what you want to do, that's fine.

Absolutely proven in some testing I did last night. 1165 Delta V to Duna direct from 100K kerbal orbit VS 1805 Delta V from 100K orbit to escape to the second burn to get Duna capture.
