XCo-23

Recommended Posts

After kerbal engineers uncovered the remains of an old XC-305 under the arctic ice, they were immediately ordered to recover the ship and return it to the KSC. Once there they set about reverse engineering the old craft in an attempt to replicate such a successful design. It was only once they had got half way through the building process that they realised that they had got the plans sideways on and decided to continue anyway. The resultant corvette has been designated the Co-23 and is currently undergoing space trials before mass production.

The ship is propelled by 8 Nervas and a pair of aerospikes giving it the impressive acceleration that is known across the Co-XX series and along with several reaction wheels offers impressive manoeuvrability compared to similar sized ships. Weaponry consists of 12 Hornet-III missiles for defence which work in concert with the advanced scanning and comms arrays to offer impressive beyond visual range capabilities. Due to the current state of peace in the Kerbin system the armour is only rated at Mk-I and the ship can easily be converted to civilian roles.

Hehe, Im just having so much fun with "old" XC-305 (one of the finest military ships ever created in KSP) creating my scenario.

This ship also looks quite nice, it look really like some vaguely reverse engineered XC-305. I would like to see it in action soon :)

BTW - where is Donlokiman gone? Kinda don´t see even his older posts here. Luckily I saved some of his ships...

Well, I took kinda long brake from KSP from reasons I could not influence. But now I´m back and working hard on BABYLON: Derelict, a scenario in which player will be sent to investigate what happened to Project BABYLON crew, which ceased transmiting to Kerbin. I used ships from last save, added some new and just moment ago I discovered a true treasure - XC-700B cruiser from Donlokiman which was supposed to be commissioned as "Carina Class Heavy Cruiser", maybe I will redesing the save and use it.

Maybe you can try this ship in the scenario also, as I post it in following days/weeks.

Your´s and Donlokimans desing have one good feature - ships are very slim so they are very hard to hit :) I hope you will be still active when multiplayer kicks in, I want to see some epic battles of stock ships!

Darn, I just though of something... if light ships apart from space fighters have virtually no chance of surviving a torpedo, then it would be a futile gesture to make armor for them. Maybe I'll make some lightly armored versions of my ships, like the Sky Breaker I made.

Any chance you could provide a full download of his ships and yours? I'd love to launch the XC-700!

Are we allowed to share other peoples ships? Haven't looked at the rules to closely yet. :P

I'll finish this ship today and add the download but at the moment it explodes when I fire its front missiles. :P

A lot of my ships are on Comrade's Spare Parts.

I know, it's a dumb question... But how do you all get these large battleships up into space? With a giant lifter, or HyperEdit?

I test them with hyperedit but I lift them using a pair of huge boosters on the side aided by the ships own engines. You'll need to refuel once in orbit using this method.
