[SHOWCASE!] Manned Maneuvering Unit/ Jetpack / EVA pack YOU NAME IT- THREAD

Hello I am xoknight, the person who started the craze for the MMU's.

(original link/proof: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/50133-Manned-Maneuvering-Unit-%28MMU%29-%28EDIT%29)

I am the inventor of the Hercules MK.7 MMU, the one thread that got so many awesome comments that it drove people to build MMU's. And since now that the EVA packs carry only a minuscule amount of propellant than they used to, the MMU's have become a necessity. So since people have been making MMU's, i thought, Hey why not make a mega-thread for everyone to share their creations. So here it is, you awesome people in the KSP community have awesome brains and I think that you can all help other people out. Now... POST YOUR MMU's! (download links and photo albums are recommended)

There is a RTG inside the MMU, there is a docking port behind the MMU and it also has Kerbal lights. And one more thing, Why would you need to land a MMU?, it can't even land on Kerbin with RCS power. And you can see in Spartwo's MMU, there is a docking port in the back and it has solar panels with a battery.

Goddamn I just realized how similar they are.Well at least it's a good example of convergent design.

^and an RTG.Anyway there's an attachment point for a parachute(seeing how that counts as landing)

GOOD idea for a thread.

Uuuhhh... very minimal in parts, while having lots of fuel. If I hadn't worked out that 50 mono units already give you more delta-v that you should ever want to use, and mine were about 4-5 parts lighter (only 9, 10 with solar panel!), I would lift your design. Mine can be seen working here (hint: kerbals have lights incorporated already, so you don't need one, but a battery is nice, it gives electricity and a position light):

Rune. I mean, unless you want an EVA pack rated for interplanetary travel, then I'll shut up. :P

Here is my version of the MMU, in the SPH:

The MMU can should be able to withstand speeds of up to 50 m/s if hit on the front, 7 m/s on the side, and 12 m/s from the back. I only have tested it with about 3 m/s

If you do hit something, the MMU will spin around. Don't worry! Just toggle the SAS and everything should be fine.

This picture shows the MMU being tested by Jebediah Kerman:

Mine is more of a space bike than a true jetpack/MMU, but it fills the same niche. I present my SrSKT(Short-Range, Single Kerbal Transport), used way back during my IPV series of builds.

Sure is a lot of fun to scoot around the orbital dockyard in the background using these things. Has enough dV to move from the dockyard to the habitat station in a sync'd orbit about 10km away (lag reasons).

I attempted to build one, my name's not too original, it's the KMU.

this is it on top of the launch vehicle I used to test it, from that clamp-o-tron up, it's a little bulky, but it was my first try.

it wasn't very successful, even with mechjeb it just spun around randomly and crashed into things. Ironically, messing around with this thing in orbit allowed me to figure out how to maneuver properly with the regular Kerbalnaut jetpack.

I saw this thread and thought it needed moar paramecium, so here's mine, which I just made today:

My KMU features a docking port so you can put it away when you're done with it. All for the miniscule cost of seven parts and 390 kilograms.

Yes xo's MMUs come standard with the STS Operations Module and STS Service Module (see link to my STS Space Shuttle in my signature below to download the subassemblies). I modified them a bit to fit into the bay (moved the probe core and docking port inward using the offset tool which was unavailable to xonight when he made the Mk.8's) :) High quality stuff!
