I love the nose, but.. Does it even lift? You seem to be pointing well above your direction vector.. It might actually be the engines being below the COG, clipping them through the top of the wing might sort that out :)

That would be the other way around: engines below the wings try to pitch you up, and allow you to go up with less wing. And they still could be smack on the middle of CG, with such a high wing.

Rune. Let's see what you come up with Gus!

Armouring problems... Can't make it look nice in a certain section of the ship. :/

The waist where the engines join, right? I'd say the sharp deltas (the ones with a 30º angle, not the wing streaks) should be a good start from the armor stripe in the middle. If you angle them down, the leading edge should end up perfectly horizontal to keep on building from. From there, use smallest wings you can and fool around with them a lot until you find something you like, takes a lot of iterations usually.

Rune. Likes to help out a lot!

First test flight and it went this well, have some high hopes for this thing.

Time to start tweaking the design, not structurally sound atm and is not sucking in enough air for my liking either, must fix that. will not have to change the aero from this point on though so this is how it will look. (I know cant see much lol)

I have no idea what i did but the fuel flow is now broken, i can not seem to fix it no matter what i do either....

It is burning fuel fine from all the tanks except for the mk2-1.25m adapter on the right side of the craft, it does not seem to be moving any fuel, really strange considering the fuel tank in front of it and behind it are both burning fuel and so is the adapter on the left side of the craft.

little help?

Mmm Strange its only on OX

xP3B9P8.jpg?1

I checked the fuel lines and all seemed connected correctly although its hard to tell when there nice and neat and tiny like they are here

I'll see if peeling it back and... I shall investigate further ... :)

No no that just made it switch sides

IB0qqbX.jpg

Seems which ever side you connect the stack to drains after ... and I mean after the other.

4zICZ37.jpg

But only OX . Liquid still burns evenly

Ok I think I have it. I believe its the wing section both stacks are placed on Need more testing to confirm ...

OJL2JuF.jpg

Also sorry for ripping apart your pritty plane

Nope was the fuel line or the pulling apart part .. either way its fixed now and all back together :)

ZDzqIz2.jpg

I also added a few extra intakes and closed off the front LI tank to help keep the nose down

Fixed Craft file

oh and u may want to add more yaw control

Just re updated the file. It gets to orbit with loads of power 23000ish cutoff with air swaping 2000m/s

Not sure about cargo capacity but

Oh no dude it gets WAYY stranger, delete all of the fuel lines between the cargo bays, it still flows exactly the same, im sitting here scratching my head atm

Cheers for taking a look btw, i appreciate it :)

started a thread for this because i think this mystery is quite a good one, hope you do not mind i copied what you wrote here and posted it there.

Awesome, thanks for your help man, and yeah i have only just started flight tests on this, i am still yet to fly it with all 3 cargo bays full or get it into orbit, only taken it to 15000m then noticed the fuel flow problem and been working on that, i still did not have it figured out by now so you are my hero atm lol

I have so many beautiful looking SSTO's that I'm working on, but every single one has the same problem. They have that death wobble that crafts used to have before SAS was fixed to prevent constant overcompensation. I can fly this plane all the way to 30Km, but the entire time the SAS is on, it just wobbles up and down, or left and right, or side to side, Depending on the control authority I just gave it.

I've also got this lovely beast, with the same problem.

Does anyone else have this problem with your spaceplanes?

I've been testing ways of making a Hermés-style shuttle ...

Javascript is disabled. View full album

I'm somewhat unhappy with using a poodle in the orbiting stage, so I'll probably go more by the original RL plans and use some smaller engines . I also not like much of the size of the wings, that look too big for what I want. And I still need to put RCS thrusters in the shuttle itself and think seriously on how to maximize the cargo bay space ...

But besides that, the maiden test flight went perfectly, even the unplanned emergency landing in the boonies due to a miscalculated deorbit burn :D ( it was cool to test manouvering while gliding at low altitude ;) )

I've had some similar issues with my Skylon, it develops a slight, really slow oscillation in yaw at high altitudes on SAS if you don't babysit it. My best guess is a lack of control authority, since yaw is the axis it has less control surfaces on (the MkII drone core, BTW, has crappy yaw and roll torque ratings). My guess is that the SAS gets confused now with the feeble inputs not changing angular acceleration enough for it to notice; and at low air densities, only a few control surfaces on the tail won't cut it anymore. Either ore reaction wheels, a bigger lever arm for you control surfaces, of more control surfaces, I'm afraid.

Rune. Other than that, they look good.

Undergoing trials with my new corvette. Almost ready for use in the battle club. It can just about manage a Laythe trip and packs a considerable punch with 3 AP 1.25m SRBs, 6 light guided missiles and 4 heavy guided missiles. The armour is dual layer reactive so it can take shots from most light weapons. Eaven when heavily damaged the ship works just fine as well. Acceleration with boost mode engaged isn't bad either.

Only problem is the part count has just passed 500. :/

Guest Space Cowboy

God help us if by posting this I've broken any Kerbal laws. Many tips of the hat to the previous lifting bodies that came before.
