Helicopters!

Recommended Posts

So, I've only seen one working helicopter mock-up made before. I've forgot most of the inner workings of it. I'm curious how people have managed a sort of helicopter-esque design. Not using propeller or helicopter blade type mods of course... More of impromptu helicopters. Recently I tried sticking a makeshift helicopter blade out of wings attached to a free-spinning infernal robotics docking ring, and while I can get the thing spinning fast as heck with sepratrons it seems to impart no lift on the vehicle. I'm going to try a more quadracopter approach tonight but in the mean time I'm hoping people can share their experiences or point me at some good reference material. Thanks :)

Ya I did try and go pretty much straight up, I had my wings angled down to the prograde of the spin if that makes sense. I don't know to much about helicopters but that always seems to be a thing in the ones I've looked at ;)

I have DCS BlackShark, needless to say I only got about 3 hours into it before I realized I'm not a helicopter pilot LOL. I'll try putting the whole thing on taller launch platform so I can give it a proper angle of attack from the getgo. Bear in mind I had no tail rudder or anything either, I'm merely trying to get lift out of the primary blade at the moment -_-

You've got them angled wrong I think...the prograde side needs to be angled up. Think of a sealing fan.
