Are you preparing?

I would imagine that contracts will be highly structured around the tech tree progression. The current version of career mode is a bit strange at the start because the player is often confused at how to gain science when they have such few parts -- Contacts will probably help that a bit by giving them some direction as to what exactly they should do first.

I suspect, staging will actually be very carefully considered and reduced by most players after economy is implemented. Why staging? Because if they give you incentive to recover all your expensive parts, you're going to reduce the amount of stages to either 1.) reduce the chances of damage and 2.) because you will have to put parachutes on literally everything you intend to drop. (which also increases weight) And once you are in orbit, you are not recovering anything without a second mission.

That's if Squad goes this route. Who knows, but it could lead to some really interesting game play and design.

Just FYI parachutes wouldn't help here, because anything over 2.5km away that is in the atmosphere gets automatically cleaned up. If anything contracts will make SSTO/spaceplanes much more attractive.

I learned pretty early NEVER to stop or alter what I am doing in the game because of an impending update. Odds are that you will have less fun and the update is coming much later than you think it is.

I am very excited to see how the economy will work, however. My shuttles will finally have a use!

Are you getting ready for .24? With it being confirmed to have contracts and money, are you creating a fleet of rockets that can launch a commercial satellite to a low/geo/polar orbit?

Nope, totally stopped playing the game. Now I'm somewhere boldly going where lots of others have gone before, Star Trek Online that is.
