Hey there. Been playing kerbal for a few months on and off now. With the exception of an eve return mission, what type of missions should the average person expect to be able to do. Is there a stage where i can finally tell if i am even remotely good at this game as the youtube clips on the net seems like feats of impossibility for me.

There's no rating system. It doesn't matter what other people are doing as long as you're having fun. But to answer your question in less preachy terms, if you can dock in Kerbin orbit and make round-trips to Mun, you'll be able to do just about anything the game requires.
