Extra Large Extra Heavy Lifter Vehicle?

Yep. That's correct.

Are you planning to put 5 space stations into orbit all at once? I guess my rockets are a lot smaller than I thought...

I don't remember exactly what in the heck I was planning on doing with it.

EDIT: IIRC, it would put upwards of 150 tons in LKO with fuel to spare.

Most of these were successful vehicles, although a couple turned out to be big fireworks. -snip-

I got my inspiration to start building big rockets from you after I saw your Apollo-style to Tylo thread a while back.

Thats good to know. :)

Everyone on these forums seems obsessed with efficiency, I'm glad there are others that believe big=better. The efficiency nuts will never know the awe of seeing a gigantic rocket fail spectacularly a couple of minutes into launch, or the satisfaction of successful staging event where you drop hundreds of parts and then blow them to pieces as the next set of engines ignite.

By the way your N-1 looks amazing. I've never seen anyone get the sections between the lower stages looking so accurate, with the gaps and the lattice of struts.

I don't have the CPU power to do that. I can't exceed ~400-450 parts on a launch vehicle due to ocean lag. Now, once I get clear of that, I can do 700-800 so I prefer megastations to megalaunchers. Though I'm more of an onion staging guy rather than serial.

These all look really nice. xokknight, your N1 is really slick as well :) OP's N1 is also fantastic

Most of my rockets aren't meant to be tall, just powerful and - gonna say this even though there were just talking about it - efficient :P :P

*Gasp* Not the e-word. Nah, but cool rocket though.

I like the looks of hundreds of engines and fuel tanks flying through the sky after a critical mission failure:

It also looks more realistic with debris flying everywhere:

We do. We just feel secretly ashamed and don't show our "what the hell, why not..." moments. So I see your N1s and raise my own:

But it doesn't really qualifies as a huge rocket. Even though it has 30 engines, they are nerfed, and even in parts it isn't really huge, 400. This, however, is:

1iXbx6M.png

802 parts, 1,375mT at liftoff. Intended to put the sections of a O'Neill style colony that one day, I promise, will be ready. As of now, it makes pretty fireworks when you get to third stage, but I think the latest idea I incorporated might make it hold together. I just didn't implement it in that one because I though "8 skippers is nothing, I don't even need struts between them". And I must confess, the first iteration didn't even have fuel lines... just a bigger cluster of mainsails under it. At some point in the explosions build I started to give up on that ^^'

Rune. Then again, when you are handling clustered Mainsails, with Mainsail boosters as first stage... I'm taming this baby. Someday.

I have so many pictures like that. However, those pictures are now confidential *cough* burned to a crisp *cough*.

And here I just started talking to him over PM to say hi.

Someone's got to summon the Whack, might as well be me!

I'll contribute this, on condition of it being a placeholder:

I say placeholder because I'm working on something that may break the ten thousand part barrier. And be functional. That being important, of course.

#EDIT: This was the core lander, during a shakedown run:

What you see in the background of the first picture is the booster ring that would've gotten it into orbit.
