I can't stop laughing: LINK

I've been to Sochi twice for work. Back then they only had 2 branded hotels and I had to bribe the airport cop to board my plane (he took money after I told him he can't have my Blackberry). They also had 2 Radisson hotels...one was real, the other fake getting its supplies from the first one thanks to corruption.

Also, the guy who hired my company wanted to buy an adjacent site. So I met the owners (old couple who owned a small tennis club) who told me they're not selling. Came back a month later and our client told us he's now selling. So I wanted to meet that owner again to discuss how long it would take him to vacate the site. Only met his wife...because he was in rehab in hospital. "Someone" broke one of his legs and both arms...and he suffered internal bleeding.

The key question I have is: Who doesn't like to take a dump with a mate?

Do you still think Russia is not gay-friendly?:D

If I was gay, Russia would be the 2nd last place I would wanna visit...right after Zimbabwe where you get the death penalty.

But yeah, you'd think otherwise looking at those toilets :sticktongue:

Loved the reporter who tried to buy water (since the tab water was yellow!) and only found a PET bottle of Gin at the shop. Welcome to Russia!!

I especially like this comment:

In Qatar more than 200 migrant workers have already died building their World Cup Venues. Sochi is an equal joke. Brazil? ****ing hopeless. This is what happens when naive idealistic political correctness runs amok and corrupt **** ass countries are given the green light to steal money and extort any and everyone. Have fun at the terrorist games Sochi, and make sure you round up all the fags.

One thing to consider is will the Olympic games make Russia become less corrupt and less prone to brutal violation of basic human rights. I can't tell, but I'm inclined to agree with the comment above. They don't deserve this.

And just imagine the Japanese, accustomed to high tech toilets, when they enter these ****houses. They'll freakin' loose their s*it. :D

If I was in charge of the Olympic stuff in my country, I'd vote for boycotting this year's winter olympics.

It's ironic that the West started reacting upon seeing poor toilets in a hastily built Olympic village, and not the whole disgusting situation of that awful country led by dear comrade criminals.

THIS!

Everyone seems to focus on toilets instead of human rights...really quite sad. Of course me creating an entire thread about it doesn't exactly help either ;)

I don't want to put anyone in Russia down, but like most people, I think they screwed this one up. They have known about the 2014 games being in Sochi for at least four years now. You mean to tell me they couldn't even get basic infrastructure (such as clean water) in that time? They are still rushing to build hotels that should have opened no later than last Summer. Then there is their problem with strays. IMO, it seems a little brutal to send people out to shoot dogs (although I understand why they are doing it.) They couldn't have tried to catch and humanly euthanize them? Or maybe spay/ neuter, vaccinated and release them? I'm sure there are a lot of people around the world that would have donated money to sponsor that effort. Then there is the terrorism issue. The games are meant to be peaceful, yet the U.S. has a pair of warships in the Black Sea to extract U.S. athletes in the event of an attack. I honestly do not believe the RU's statement that they will be able to ensure security for the games.

I honestly do not think they are ready to host the games. Once again, this is not meant to be an attack on their inability to finish preparing, just a restatement of the facts.

I'm pretty sure we'll see an attack and, even worse, comrades doing a sh#tty job trying to mend the situation. Remember Beslan? They've sent their criminals on that school who just killed almost fu#king everyone, including the children, just to quickly stop everything. Stupid, evil, incompetent and brutal people were in charge.

I'd get the fu#k out of that country during the games. With huge security hauled into Sochi, other places become easy targets. You don't need to attack the games to make a mess. One bomb in a totally unrelated city is enough to ruin everything.

None of the photos I've seen so far are the ones presented in that link. So the whole criticism is just a big Western conspiracy?

Of course, it is not :) I was just surprised that fake was so obvious! Here is western TV show that mentions those fake toilets:

Did they even bother to check what they are talking about?

Same thing with double toilets. The one BBC told about was actually supposed to be removed - journalist took the photo when the partition has already been removed but the toilets were not, here are before/after pictures: http://www.topnews.ru/news_id_64755.html

And this is real double toilet, don't confuse them: https://twitter.com/martinfkde/status/430082527886196736/photo/1

Good thing we've got somebody from Russia to clear things up.

Propaganda is always at play of course. The Western media criticize Russia...and if you listen to RT, you'll notice they often do the same thing in reverse.

I also want to make it clear that I have nothing against Russia or Russians, it's a beautiful country and most people treated me really nicely whenever I went. It's just that when it comes to corruption and "questionable building design" they have a pretty funny reputation, and rightfully so.

When I was in Yekaterinburg not too long ago, I saw multiple buildings with doors instead of windows...doors that will kill you if you open them because they lead to nowhere. One of my hotel projects had a door on the 5th floor instead of a window, no stairs. When I asked the architect WTF is wrong with him given that the plans CLEARLY asked for a window, I just got a blank stare and a "no more windows left" reply. Several extra windows were ordered in case some break, where that money or those windows went...no one knows.

Good parties in Russia though and they have really really pretty women :)

Don't get me started on the McGyver-style haircuts that still seem super popular with dudes though...
