Voyages to Urania

This will be my first Urania mission and i plan to document it here. Actually, set of missions. But first things first.

DUSK 1 MISSION

Unmanned launch of Dusk mothership.

First mission will be unmanned launch of Dusk Mothership. It will be launched with nearly empty tanks (only one from whole 10) to make whole operation easier. Fuel will then be delivered by tanker, landers by another unmanned launch and crew by orbital taxi.

Launch mass: 640 T

Cargo mass: 84 T

Launch takes place during sunset.

Delivering crew

Crew will be delivered using prototype Meteor 1 space taxi vehicle. Unfortunetly there werent much time for tests...

Meteor 1

Launch mass: 108 T

Ship mass: 10 T

Crew: 2 pilots, 4 passengers

Delta V on orbit: 1500

Main engine: Nucleonics Ltd FTmN 40

Command module: HGR-57 Radish

Crew section: PPD-10 Hitchhiker Storage

"Looks like we've had our glitch for the mission..." Guess it was only one of many. keep it up this is good!

Construction of Duck 1 continues. And as usual, there were some minor glitches... Also, with broken heart, i reduced rendering and textures quality, because i was getting kerbal space slideshow instead space program.

Delivering Tug

Kamaz

We wont be dragging landers trough Urania system using whole massive mothership. This will be job of space tug Kamaz. It provides two-man living space inside comfty orbital orb and enought delta v for two way journey to any place inside Urania system.. probably. Additionally this mission will deliver large scansat sensor that will be attached to mathership itself.

Refuelling mission 1#

Cistern 5

It has number 5, because its fifth version - and by the way first one that didnt exploded during 5 minutes after launch. It delivers half of Talisars spherical tank to orbit - engineers from VAB had some trouble with developing larger rocket that woudl be able do deliver whole tank. But they are still trying.

Delivering landers

Pixie

These twin landers are designed roughly for Vall class planet. Pixie 1 has 4 Aeis Galaxy engines 50 kn thrust each and standard 1-man lander can, while Pixie 2 has single Aerospike and HGR Spud capsule - so we have something for airless body and something for atmospheric one. Both landers has parachutes though - in unlikely event of crash landing of pixie 2, #1 woudl be able to rescue its pilot - thats what external seats placed next to lander legs are for.

So, it seems that controllers from KSC mission controll forgot to unfold solar panels in time, and now guidance unit controlling landers is dead. It seems that Kamaz will be used earlier than enyone thought.
