So I recently downloaded b9 and tried to set up a plane mission to EVE. It was tricky but I got the little thing there, got into atmo... and the airintake resource didn't go up. Meaning my very well engineered plane became a very well engineered lawn dart.

Is Airintake ONLY on kerbin?

They can be used on Laythe also. Just got to get them there first!

Yeah. Here'd the thing: Jets require external oxygen to work. This is only available on kerbin, and (to a lower extent) laythe. So yeah, in order to get a powered plane on another planet that doesnt require rockets you will need ION engines and/or Electric Props from Firespitter.

The Kethane pack also includes a special jet engine that uses KIntakeAir (Kethane Intake Air) instead when in an atmosphere like Eve or Duna's. But of course, you have to harvest and store Kethane to use it.

you need oxygen in the atmosphere for it to work... only Kerbin and Laythe have that.

Ahhh... I remember good old 0.17 days, I tried to land a DEMV there. The jet engines weren't spooling, weren't slowing down enough. Had to relaunch the entire mission with an aerospike... didn't know until later that jet engines don't work. Learned that the hard way

See thing is, none of thoe engines are fuel efficient enough. I was all happy cos I got an UNHOLY amount of delta-v, and my plan to fly around Eve completely was looking good. XD

If you want to fly all around Eve, get the Kethane pack, scan the planet, and "hop" from kethane deposit to kethane deposit.

Easiest way to fly around EVE is in orbit the whole way.

You could also use the nuclear turbojet from Interstellar, it works in any atmosphere and doesn't require any fuel (as far as I can remember).
