Control more than one vessel at once

Is there any method in KSP to control more than one vessel at a time even if they are more than 2.5km away from each other? This would be realy helpful because sitting around waiting for my kethane scanner to finish is really dull

Unfortunately there is not. but I feel your pain.

As far as I know there is no way to do this, because once you move out of the physics load range, most active functions on the vessel stop, such as mapping software. Whenever I've got to map a body I try to start it where I can do it overnight and just leave it running, that way nothing is missed due to physics warp. I really wish there was a way to keep it running, and there may be a mod that does something of the sort somewhere, but I don't know of any.

Not the ability of using two ships at a time, but to map while the vessel is inactive.
