[0.24] Distant Object Enhancement 1.3.1 - Planets/satellites in the night sky! (7/29)

You don't like Munar glow?

Also, I think that glow is from Astronomer's pack. I have it installed myself, but it's.. acting strange. No cloud textures are different, no city lights are different, but yet the planets and moons are somewhat different.. Anyone got an answer? If not, I'll just install Better Atmospheres V5, which I don't mind personally.

Anyone else having the problem of the icon not appearing in the toolbar?

Toolbar is installed, button is not hidden, and changing the settings file manually works.

What screen are you on when you are looking for the button? The button only works when you're on the Space Center screen

I don't know if this is known already but this mod does not work well with the Environmental Visual Enhancements Overhaul. In map mode, Kerbin is completely white.

Yea I second that. I think distant objects is preventing the night lights from appearing on kerbin from the tracking station view. Also it's only happened once so far but the first time I loaded up the game with distant objects the light "layer" for Kerbin was out of phase with the surface of the planet by the entire width of Kafrica. I tried to land a vehicle based on the lights and ended up several kilometers off the western coast.

Edit: Okay so the second time I load up the game everything seems to be working fine.

Ah that explains it, thanks. I was expecting to be able to modify it realtime in space.

I have a issue that annoys me to no end about one of the KEY features of this mod: Debris flares do NOT work at all. I have tried everything; maximizing flares, enabling and disabling continuously, and even starting a new save. It does not work! Is anyone else having this problem, and how do I fix it? I am desperate! I am going to attempt to re-install it, so I'll let you know if anything changes. ;)

You must how more mods installed then you listed it showing ScanSat ? Which if you are running ver 7. you might check to see if you still have ScanSat RPM folder and delete it.

Hi, can you suggest me a configuration to use with telescope mods like Tarsier Space Tech? When I zoom in on a planet I just see the glow texture and not the planet. I also noticed some glitches on celestial bodies zooming on them. It is better disableing glows via .cfg file but it's a boring process. Maybe you know a better way!

Do you have the Environmental Visual Enhancements pack with the clouds texture? Because I was getting these as well, and looked in the KSP.log file to find every one of them was related to drawing clouds. When I removed these mods (and didn't remove Distant Objects), my NRE reports dropped to zero.

The output.log file doens't usually contain enough information to locate the error source. Look in the KSP.log file. I have a lot of mods installed at this point, and tested each one as I installed it, and tested the entire mod base install (which is now at 20 mods) - and don't get any NREs with Distant Object installed.

Yes. Null Reference Exceptions are a notorious source of FPS depression - perhaps the most common apart from slow hardware.

KerTrotsky does it drops fps?

I have EVI and DOE too and my fps is very low, i'm now trying to figure out why.

This has probably been said before but this doesn't always play nice with mods. I thought my small Kethane rig on Duna was borked because I could see it from 5km away and it looked way too big. I panned the camera over there and saw this:

Is there a way to toggle the dimming feature when looking towards a light source, or tone it down a bit? Because it almost blackens the entire EVE online skybox I downloaded, even when looking at it on the dark side of Kerbin.

When you're at the space center, open the options menu, and hit "disable Dynamic Sky Dimming."

That should remove the sky dimming, haven't tested myself though. Best of luck :)

I was thinking... whit this mod, would be possible to hide the orbits trails in the map mode when you press F2? (the key for hide the interface)

That will be awesome to take captures ingame and to gain inmersion in determined moments.

As far as I can tell, this doesn't work for me at all in 0.25. It's installed, the config is set up but I don't get any dimming of the sky. It's possible that everything else is working and I just can't tell because that feature is what makes some of the other ones stand out more.

You have toolbar mod installed?

I had the same problem and installing toolbar mod helped.

Here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/60863

Hopefully one day this mod will get around using stock toolbar ending the dependency hell.
