Rescuing kerbals from planets - The command pods are full!

Ok, this may be a silly question, so at least try to be nice

Anyways, I kinda crashed two kerbals at mun, and they're stuck there.. (because the rocket tipped over). How am I supposed to rescue them!? I can't rescue them with a command pod, cuz they're all occupied by Jeb and his mates. Note. I do not want to terminate them, I want to rescue them. So, is there any way I can get them back. Like with a fuselage (aren't they full of fuel) or a extra set seats?

Thanks for any replies I may get :)

Do you mean the command pods on a rescue ship are already populated?

That's easy to solve, in the editor before you launch, click on the crew tab (3rd blue button along the top) and from there you can remove crew from the command pods before launch.

So you could take a 3 man pod with just one occupant to rescue the two stranded guys. Or you could make a rescue ship that has two 1 man pods and a probe core, remove all the crew before launch and send it unmanned to do the rescue.

Hope that answers your Q, and welcome to the forums btw.

You can rescue them by sending an empty 2 man lander can, controlled by a probe core or another capsule, or a 3 man capsule controlled by only 1 man.

There is also the "hitchhiking" module that has space for for, or the science lab that has space for 2.

So yes it can be done, and if you are in career mode, then you simply need to unlock those parts.

Get more science before your brave Kerbals run out of life support! (I'm kidding, they wont, at least not in this version of the game)

With a rescue mission! But yeah, as highlighted above by katateochi and others, multiple occupancy command pods can set off with reduced crew compliment, there's also the hitch-hiker utility can part, and there is also FIDO THE RESCUE ROVER:
