Colonization

Probably a ways off, but my Jeb is getting up in years and has trained as many of his fellow Kerbals with "the right stuff" in docking and exploring planets as he cares to. He'd like to start calling that little valley in the twin craters of the Mun his own. Perhaps adding more real world challenges into the "getting there" and exploration would be nice, but once you've solar system mastered space travel, it would be nice to have a level two.

I'd like to see metal mining added along kethane, when they add that.

Then you could have a inflatable VAB and turn the metals you mined into parts.

Colonization would be taken to a new level once they add kerbals being able to pick up parts and weld them, attachments, cranes, and kerbal integrated fuel lines. So basically, Colonization is the kerbal attachments mod.

But, I like the Idea of making parts with mined metal so you don't have to haul them. Like, if your wheel was totally destroyed, you could make another from metal, and have a kerbal attach them. It would add a lot to crashes, if you get what I'm saying, which is that, if you crash a lander with a miner on it and some type of small parts maker, you could rebuild the lander and probably make a new base.

Summary:

If Kerbal could craft parts and create factories and mine metal and kethane + the kerbal attachments mod (With a few colonization parts or the H.O.M.E. mod.) would basically fulfill my needs for a colonization DLC or something.

What you want is Extraplanetary Launchpads v3.7.1.

It works similarly to kethane; you scan the planet/moon, drill for ore, smelt it into metal and build rocket parts. Which in turn can be used to build rockets to be launched from your 'extraplanetary launchpad'.

I wasn't looking for a mod.

I was saying that a combination of these mods:

Kethane

Extraplanetary launchpad

Kerbal Attachments mod (KAS)

H.O.M.E. Mod

(Maube B9 aerospace for the cargo bays.)

Would be substantial for Sqaud to put together and make a Colonization DLC, like, if you created a official modpack.

I was also looking for a mod that allows you to build single parts easily, without a setup and then use KAS to grab and repair rovers or other vehicles, like when a wheel completely explodes and is destroyed, you don't have to quickload, but you can repair.

Nobody before me in thise thread did mention anything about Extraplanetary Launchpads. The way you posted your wish/suggestion made it look like you didn't know about it as you did mention several other mods and wanted something like kethane but with the ability to build rockets.

And SQUAD did at one point plan to ad resource mining to the game. Unfortunately they dropped it in favor of multiplayer.

Iirc they dident drop it to make multiplayer, they dropped it because it felt less and less fun as a game. If they are lying or not is not for me to decide, but that is at least the official word.

I might have worded it improperly.

But anyways, thanks for it anyways.

Also, squad mentioned about the colonization and multiplayers as dlcs, suggesting if they don't add colonization (also resource mining, because it wouldn't be colonization if you didn't use the land or get benefits from it.) In the vanilla, meaning they most likely will add it as a dlc.

When you say they dropped it in favour of multiplayer, it seems like they mean that they aren't going to add drilling into the vanilla, but most likely in a dlc.
