Overtemp warnings under normal conditions?

Recommended Posts

I've noticed some of the engines give an OT warning under what i'd consider Normal operating conditions. Is this usual? Do you think this should be corrected?

I think an engine should only to be OT if it's receiving heat from another engine, or something else is causing it's exhaust to not exit cleanly. The baby SRB goes OT even when out on a radial mount. the mailsail goes OT if it's run at 100%. either the alarm is too low, or full throttle is not correct.

I like the way overheating works now. Pack your engines too tightly together or run them too hard too low and you get an overheat. It would be less interesting if you could just pin the throttle and not worry about heat.

The only change I would like is to fix the thermal conduction of the orange tank.

I think that Aerospikes and small solid boosters are the only engines I have managed to destroy from overheating without specifically trying it. Mainsails and nuclear engines always start to overheat, but the overheat bar stops at around halfway, making it completely safe to run them at 100% for long periods of time. Maybe the problem was worse before I started playing in 0.22, but currently you can pretty much ignore the warnings.

all of you has forgot the RAPIER, which i tested as jet booster(that after a while become close-cycle engine if theres no enough air intake),

& if i got him to 100% to much time it explodes.

as an answer to the thread's question, i like the state as its now, too.
