Thanks to Cpt. Kipard, I discovered baking AOs. It's the best way to make shadows, if I were you, make AOs and multiply them to your texture, looks a lot better.

I concur - sometimes its a bit tricky to set up. Worth it though!

I don't think you can convert Google Sketchup parts into nice looking parts.

There's no flat texture map, or any bitmapping or anything.

I have problems how you see to the pics, with the UV Map,for example the "SLM 24" appears twice, and one of them is like to mirror of the other.

My parts are google sketchup made I think they are looking as what I wanted them to be.

Anyways,

Hrrm, a sketchup user. It'll be easy, model it on sketchup, soften edges to those that you want to be shaded smooth on blender because blender will import it as smooth already. You can unwrap the UVs on blender. That'll be easy as pie. The bridge will be exporting as dae

I've always found that you have to clean up models in Blender quite a lot when using sketchup, delete doubles will remove about a third of the vert count.

I'm taking a shot at texturing that model, will post pics shortly.

Edit:

Bit of progress

Yep, I'm here.

Bit more progress:

I had to re-do the model, but it's about the same size/shape.

With a model like this I wouldn't bother manually doing the smoothing, just do it in Unity on the import settings. Lazy, but it works. I think I've done that with about 90% of SXT.
