How to recreate "Gravity" in KSP. Accidentally.

There is a beautiful station mod, called Station Science (grab it here). It contain parts that you must assemble into space station, then deliver experiments and bring results back home.

So, I built a station:

11 launches. Total weight: 234 t.

I've sent several expeditions on it, with all kinds of spaceships (my favorite is KSO). You also can see docked ATV.

Then, one day, this happened. The station was unmanned at that day (thanks Great Kraken!)

Looks like we've got a debris-proximity warning! By the way - it's debris from one of rockets that was launched to build this station.

PROXIMITY ALERT!

My stations are usually the start of the debris field- I've destroyed three stations now by forgetting to disable engines and trying to take screenshots. On the Mac, F1 requires pressing Fn-F1 , and Fn is juuuuuust below Shift which engages the engines.When various docked engines facing various directions all fire up.... kaboom.

That's awesome. I've had some relatively close calls, but never an actual collision!

Set your convenently placed watch timer to 90-minutes. When the alarm goes off, take off your clothes and float around for a while. Also be gorgeous. Win a few Oscars.

J/K, i loved the movie. My wife loved the movie. I'm so glad I haven't destroyed a station with debris, yet. The Kraken took my first station. 0.23 update took my 2nd (I did a clean install). New computer, new harddrive, new install took my 3rd. I haven't built another monster station, yet, but when I do, I'll try to remember to keep the orbit path clear of debris.

i remember trying to make a station using landing legs as clamps back when 0.14 came out

i got the encounter set up and everything (which was a lot harder before maneuvering nodes), but upon trying to attack the two craft everything blew up

HOWEVER, I did use landing legs and cubic struts in a cage-type thing to grab and dispose of a discarded fuel tank that was too close to my current station for comfort

I could have just set max debris to 0, but i figured it would be fun to try
