B9 5.0 pre-release (with download)

Just wanted to point out the spelling error for the description of the HL cockpit. Fusilage→Fuselage.

Not that I myself am picky, just thought you would like the heads up.

Also, I never understood why the R12 RCS thruster block is lower in power when the price and size is twice (plus it has more thrust nozzles) that of the other 2 RCS blocks, I personally just change the configuration for that but was wondering why this decision was made.

Just thought I would reiterate this as it seems it was overlooked.

Make an issue about the text thing.

The R12 costs 1.5x as much and masses 1.5x as much as the R6, because it has 1.5 the power.

And its that way because we played with it way back when and liked it that way? I might test it again, but SAS did not like tp=2 nozzles on craft, it kept oscillating.

Is it necessary to include the Deprecated folder if you have already removed the old B9 mod?

It is if you'd like to load crafts/saves using the deprecated parts ...

Those are bac9's toys ... I kind of want them, and at the same time don't - because I can see the million 'how do I orbit it' questions.

Given enough beer, anything can be put into orbit without cheating. :)

This craft can get into 80km LKO with about 1500dv left. P.S. we are going to need bigger VAB/SPH.....

M27 Cockpit -> HX1-A-LLL w/LFO -> HX1-URC(aka huge RTG) -> HX1-U w/LFO -> HX-HPD1 =<<<<<

That is odd, my version of this 'pre-release' has the power at 0.75

I already explained this, power is per nozzle, more nozzles = more power, 2 nozzles with 0.5 power = 1 nozzle with 1 power.

Seems that listing total power makes more sense, or at the very least a mention of this in the description?

Hi good B9 folks, it's looking and sounding fantastic so far, eagerly awaiting release.

A small suggestion/request for you to consider. An ultra-short landing gear for use as a Concorde-style tail protection wheel (a single wheel), or a C130-style main gear (double wheel). In the same style/appearance as the main HDG set.

Thanks.

It says 'Thruster power', it has 12 thrusters ...

I get that point, it is just that most are listed with the total thrust power being the directional power, not each nozzle but rather the power being pushed out at any one particular direction.

Isn't it more correct to say that they are all listed with per-nozzle power, just most only have 1 nozzle per direction? Also, I'm not certain, but isn't the presentation of the specs a part of the stock game, so not something easily changed by a mod?

Correct on both counts.

Can we Download the pre-release or no?

So long as its clear its guaranteed to be broken in various ways, and it may a) set fire to your house B) break your savegames c) break your crafts d) break your knees YOU EYEBALLING ME SON? and that we can and will change anything and everything at the drop of a hat or commit knowingly-broken files and do other crazy things and you don't get to complain or we'll laugh at you and throw bits of old srbs at you and so on, sure, go right ahead dude! :D

Everything so far is looking awesome! The update to the HL fuselage is great so far. The only thing that I've run into while putting together the shuttle shown below is that I couldn't attach the HL tanks radially to the decoupler (I used the HL tanks for the main, external fuel tank for the shuttle). I had to lay down a KW rocketry tank and then expand off of that with HL tanks.

Perhaps just take the HX0-E endcap, glass the front and wraparound edges on the protruding bit, and give it a placeholder IVA for now? Seems like if we can build a ship with the part now then the IVA could show up in a 5.1 with no compatibility issues (though it limits your ability to change the model while building the IVA). I whipped up a quick .cfg to make an HX0 Drone Bridge, interested?

A short inline HX1 to HX0 adapter (like the HX1-A-375C) would be great too; that would help mounting one and would also make it easier to use the HX0 and HX1 parts without the enormous adapter.

I wish the HX4 hanger parts didn't have the central brace - I was trying to build a stupidsize spaceplane hanger but it seems like that brace just gets in the way. Also, it isn't flush with the top, so I can't stick an HX0 part to it without a big visible gap.

So I just came in for my first ever space plane landing with the pre release. My wheels touched down and made a skidding noise and I thought "oh cool" and then I hit the brakes and the SABRE engines made this awesome retro noise that MADE the landing for me. Those little details make all the difference. Seriously AWESOME job guys. I'm glad you're sharing this with the rest of us.

I'm sure you are feverishly working on finishing the new release, but may i make a suggestion/request?

It would be great if we had be a new window for the RPM-screens showing either the ship-description, or (even better) the content written into the blue info-parts. The 5.0 update will make IVA missions much easier, but every ship relies on remembering a lot of stuff. I missed something like a note-block to look up certain craft-specific things like action-groups or maneuvers when flying my spaceplane (which btw completely survived the update).

So, I take it NEAR doesn't work yet. Loaded up my favorite plane, replaced some deprecated parts and.... 175m/s and can't get off the runway ;.;. No lift. Anyway, I'm sure it's coming but I wanted to say, what I did see looked wonderful. I love the new S2 windows and hatches, but I especially liked the new sound effects and visuals on those turbojets and wheels, squealing wheels not what I wanted to hear on takeoff but still very cool. Keep up the great work guys.

By the way, there is a new module in firespitter, FSWheelAlign, it allows you to press F2 and shows wheel guides for easier alignment as you might have guessed from the name. Since your already using Firespitter, it would be nice if you added this module to your wheels. I can do it of course, but it would be nice not to have to.

By the way part 2: Is the large S2 crew tank supposed to have the ability to include fuel? Not sure if I should report that as a bug or not.
