Config Option To Disable Mousewheel For Maneuver Nodes

Recommended Posts

I perused the settings.cfg but I don't see anything that would work. If there is an option and I missed it, please let me know.

I use the mouse wheel to scroll in and out in map mode. I never, ever want to use it to modify a maneuver node. Over the past several months I've gotten very used to being able to scroll the mouse wheel with abandon and have it just work, doing exactly what I expect it to do: scroll the map in and out.

Now with 0.23.5 my mouse wheel has 2 functions: Do what I want, and don't do what I want but screw up my carefully planned maneuver node instead.

I cannot see ever wanting to modify a maneuver node with the mouse wheel, but I CAN see screwing up so many nodes in the coming months. Could we get a config option instead to disable that feature?

Fine-tuning maneuver nodes with mouse wheel is around for a while already, you were able to screw up your maneuver by mouse wheel zooming in 0.22 just well. The only thing 0.23.5 introduced was that map will not zoom if you're pointing at the node icon while rolling the wheel.

Now I think it would make sense to separate it the other way, i.e. if mouse wheel is used for map zooming, it will not switch to maneuver tuning unless you move the mouse from "not pointing at maneuver icon" to "pointing at maneuver icon" (i.e. it won't switch if the icon travels below the cursor instead). That would preserve its current function (which I find very comfortable and useful for anybody who does not use mods to set up maneuvers) and prevent screwing up maneuvers accidentally during map zooming.

That may explain some occasional weird maneuver node changes I experienced in the past. I always figured I screwed something up or a SOI changed altered an orbit.

Naaw. I just want it gone. :)

Yeah, same here. I started with 0.23.5, and I have never used this feature intentionally (I'm more precise with click and drag), but plenty of times by accident. I've learned to be more careful with my mouse pointer, but it's still pretty annoying.
