Keeping track of Mod versions

Recommended Posts

How are all of you keeping track which version of mods you have downloaded and updated already?

The spaceport doesn't keep track of it, and most mods don't have Version XXX.X in their file names or anything. So are you all keeping track of them manually? Or just leaving it up to your brains' memory?

Edit: I realize there's a post keeping track of all mods updated with 23.5 but I'm talking more about mods with active programmers who update on a regular basis.

I personally just install the newest version and don't care about updating until I update KSP itself or I got fatal errors. On the other hand, I don't have so many mods, so I could just manually update them regullarly... But I'm too lazy :)

Hi, as a massive user of mods myself, I have exactly the same problem.

To manage, I started creating a spreadsheet with all info about current and installed mod versions, compatibility with my (multiple) installed versions of KSP, and a lot of other useful stuff.

Then, I found this tool: KSP Mod Admin, it allows to keep all the needed data together and automate most of the required operations (install, removal, compare, and with the latest version 1.4.0 PR5 also update of mods). I use it even for mods that I just want to keep track of, and not install. And it works for any number of KSP installs. No more use for my spreadsheet.

Excellent! I was doing what the previous posters were, and just downloading whenever it seemed like I should be.

But I just looked into that Application, Diomeda, and while versions of the mods seem to be absent, it does feel like a huge upgrade to just downloading whenever. Thanks a lot!

every time i release a version of my mod i add one to my version number. i update the number on my file name and in my readme file. there shouldnt be anything more to it. you can use some kind of fancy 12.34.567 version number but i dont see the point. im lazy and releases are few and far between and i cant justify using that many numbers.
