iStickyDuck
Pre 0.23.5 I could turn on the engines and leave a ship to complete a burn while I go on reddit and then come back a few minutes later and the burn will be finished, but now if I tab out of KSP the simulation freezes so no matter how long I leave it the ship hasn't budged... Why has this changed?!
DeMatt
I believe it has something to do with the way Unity does full-screen graphics - that is, if it can't actually find the screen real estate it's supposed to work with (as in you alt-tabbed away from a full-screen application), it pauses until it gets the screen back.Try switching KSP to a windowed view. That works for me.
Claw
Yep, like DeMatt said (window mode). This has come up on a bunch of threads. If I recall, someone said it might be a new "feature," although the "simulate in background" option apparently isn't working.

Claw
Borderless window mode to the rescue!*sits up to listen* Is this an in-game option or a windows setting?
FenrirWolf
It's activated as a command-line argument. For the Steam version you right-click KSP in your games list and go to properties->set launch options, and put -popupwindow into the field. For non-steam or general installs you make a shortcut to ksp.exe and right-click on it, then you add -popupwindow to the end of the Target field. i.e. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Kerbal Space Program\KSP.exe" -popupwindowEdit: Apparently you can do it in the Launcher app too. Click the run in frameless window option in the Advanced tab.

Maybe this will fix another problem I'm having. I've seen this option posted before, but didn't realize it made the window borderless. Thanks! bsalis
I noticed this too. Has it changed recently with the Unity upgrade perhaps?Pretty sure in older versions in full screen, you could Atl-Tab to desktop and the game would still be running in the background. Although it's unclear to me if it's a Unity change or a KSP change. I believe a one of the mod's said they'd look into it.
Vanamonde
Yes, a number of us are seeing this problem, and the devs are aware of it. We're going to close this thread now and ask that you collect the information the devs need for bug diagnosis, and post in the Support and Bugs sub-forum, so they can find it.
