Is an interest in spaceflight regarded as an "old-fashioned" thing where you live?

Here in Hungary, spaceflight is mainly associated with Soviet culture and those interested in it are mostly seen as odd historians or closet communists. Modern spaceflight (e.g. the Mars rovers and the Chinese space program) are usually ignored, and the Space Shuttle is regarded as "cool" mostly because almost everyone thinks it was an SSTO.

It's pretty popular in my area. I can't seem to get away from it.

Noone here (in germany) realy talks about it, but when i do its considered "nerdy", but not old fashioned...
