Is Jeb Dead?

Jeb is on the moon. I was trying to get him on board his rover and something went south... now I can switch to Jeb, but he won't move or activate his rocket pack. I can't control him at all. Is he dead? Or... undead?

Possessed by a Mun spirit maybe?

Not sure what I can do with him.

He shows up as Jebediah... I mean, I can "fly" him, he just won't do anything. Pressing "R" does not turn on his rocket pack, he won't walk, right-clicking on him does nothing but show me how much RCS fuel he has. Can't do EVA report, etc. But he is standing up straight.

The more I think about it, the more I think he's a zombie.

Are you running the latest version of 0.23.5? There was a problem where Kerbals would suddenly become unresponsive, and Squad released a patch to fix it. Download the new version and copy over your save.

Alternatively, go into your persistence file and make sure Jeb's classified as an "EVA". Sometimes it accidentally gets switched to "Base", "Debris", etc.

One time I was launching a boat and now I have kind of the same problem. Bob and Jeb are stuck in the command seats in EVA mode. Bill was flung into the water because of a high center of mass and I can't move him. I can right click bob and jeb as if they were doing EVA (I can see EVA report and surface sample) but I can't get them to leave the seat.

OK, this just happened again. I was driving a rover with Jack Kerbin and it crashed, and he became unresponsive. I quit and reloaded, and now he is gone, listed as "missing in action" in the astronaut complex.

Jeb is listed as "Vessel: Jebediah Kerman. Seat: Passenger Seat. Part: kerbalEVA."

Some serious bugging going on here.

Did he bump his head sometime ago???

Seriously, this happens to me a lot! I play with my rovers, doing crazy flips and rolls, end up bumping one of the guy's heads, and he ends up immobilized!

Didn't find a solution for this, except for going back in time before that happened :^(

It's because for some reason the game classes those kerbals as debris and they loose the ability to walk and use their jet pack, because their debris. It hasn't happened to me for a while but I believe if it happens to you a lot, you should just use a capsule.

Yes! They end up being dislodged a little from their seat, and after that, they are zombies.

I think this is a bug in 23.5 as this happens with EVERY kerbal for me if i EVA and then switch back to space center or quit the game. When I come back they are all lifeless on the ground and switching to them does not let me control them at all.

Jeb's a zombie. Send a probe missile to destroy him before the disease(/mun spirit(/demon from beyond(/Kraken))) spreads to a lander, which in turn would return to Kerbin with the zombitis.
