Duna Deliverer

Year 2, Day 97

The Duna Deliverer spacecraft was intended to deliver a small science probe to Duna's surface. The probe managed to make orbit after dropping a stage in a high suborbital trajectory. However, there wasn't enough fuel in the craft to make it to the Red Planet, and it ended up tracing an elliptical Kerbol orbit.

I tried to do this one with a pen that I found... it's not bad but (as always) there are some things that are a little off. Still, though, it's good to bring this thread back to life again.

I like the clouds. It's not realisitc, but it just looks right for the drawing. Also, the sea is generally darker than the land.

Hello!

Nice very nice!

I hope this doesn't offend you and I'm sure your skills can be put to many other uses but, you could really have a job as a comic book illustrator? Looking at that last picture its pretty much perfect .

No offense taken.

You’re actually not the first person who has recommended comic-book illustration as a career. It would certainly be fun, but I’m not sure that it would be the best career for me. I’m currently looking for a more science-y job. That being said, I’m thinking of maybe making a web comic. (Or maybe not. I’m quite busy, and you have to update them a lot.)

Yes i did ^_^

Thank you! (I’m assuming that you mean that you’ve begun work on the third “Voyager†video. I'm looking forwards to that.)

I like the clouds. It's not realisitc, but it just looks right for the drawing. Also, the sea is generally darker than the land.

I was going for a non-realistic but cool-looking approach for the last drawing, and it looks like I achieved my goals. That’s always reassuring.

I know that the sea is darker than the land, but I was trying to get this drawing done rather quickly to bring the Debris Series back to life. I looked at the drawing the day after I made it and thought, “The sea’s supposed to be darker than that!†But by then, it was too late. (sigh)

New drawing coming later today.

After this one, I’m thinking of turning the series over to audience suggestions, but I’m not sure. I’ll let you know when I post my drawing.

I'm never going to abide by any deadline again. Just warning you. They're too much of a hassle.

Jool Plunge

Year 3, Day 110

The Jool Plunge craft, somewhat unsurprisingly, was designed to plunge through Jool's atmosphere, taking data all the while. It was part of a larger craft that was my attempt at accomplishing the "Jool-3" challenge, landing on Laythe, Vall and Bop. However, the craft itself is now stuck on Laythe. I guess more fuel would have helped.

I'm now open for submissions. I'm going to include the submission rules in the OP, so read there if you want to send anything in to me.

The rules might not come up for several hours as I do maintenance on the series, and also do a scuba-diving class, so be patient.

I'm looking forwards to your submissions!

Spectacular! The shading really showed in this one and it got the impressions it needed. Very well done.

I jumped the gun and had a submission a while ago in a previous post but I think I may have a better, much more grander image that is truly debris at it's finest. I'll get to you with it soon I hope!

EDIT:

If you chose/open this, you decide which of these pics to do it's your art and I am being intrusive on jumping the gun.

My first rescue mission. Read about here

An awesome pic. See the story here.

P.S. you're awesome.

Chose me or not you are a great artist in sorts and I hope to see you around the forum.

Later.

I've finally managed to update everything, which is good news! I'm going to start off with Avera9eJoe's image of his rescue mission, followed by an image PM'd to me by SelectHalfling0, and then the image that Joshwoo69 promises to deliver.

I'll subsequently do drawings in the order that they were sent in, which means that it may take a little time for me to fulfill requests. But I will try to draw everything sent in to me, as long as it is in accordance with the rules on the OP.

(oh, and no Kessler bombs please.)

Sweet thanks a ton! Sounds like you liked the first pic best :). Just in case you didn't figure it out yet, the upside down rover was used as a ramp so don't miss that!

I should probably post pictures of my works-in-progress, so that the people that requested them can see what's going on.

Here's Avera9eJoe's drawing so far (with none of the shading but the basic setting laid out):

If this looks good, I can continue from here, or if you want something to be different, I'm very open to suggestions.

It's funny. Whenever I see three objects arranged like that, my brain screams, "STILL LIFE!" and I subsequently draw the craft as such. Still not sure if that's a good thing.

[EDIT: This drawing has no shading and isn't even close to complete, so expect a bit more out of this in the future. :) ]

That. Is amazing. One thing that slightly bugs me but you can leave is that the 3 legged descent stage ran our of fuel 30 meters up, bounced one, bounced twice, and then ended with the tipped buggy ramp launch improv so the scorch marks aren't technically needed under the poodles but still outstanding. There would still be marks from 30 meters up :P so it doesn't really matter. Oh and thanks for moving the lights to the side! I don't know what drove me to place them above the RCS tanks when I built this xD. This was quite a fun landing and now, quite a beautiful piece of art. Unrelated to the picture, why did I use so many chutes!!! This was probably my first launch with that capsule and I was still testing its capabilities on this mission :).

See you around.

Noted. I'll probably change the blast patterns to indicate a rather hard, unpowered landing, thanks for notifying me of this.

Also, I have a habit of adding too many parachutes as well. My slowest descent speed on parachutes alone was 1.4 m/s with a rather large, six-Kerbal craft. (Don't ask.)

...and now for something completely different! I decided to do a little something for the KMC (Kerbal Minds Corp.) thread on the Rocket Builders subforum, because ZooNamedGames was asking around for logos. I tried to capture the spirit of the thread, and I think I did it pretty well.

Not debris, but still a fun little pencil drawing to look at whilst I complete Avera9eJoe's drawing.

Avera9eJoe, I'm done with your drawing! Here ya go.

TmCMbOL.jpg

Here's some backstory on this one.

I rushed at the end a little bit, but this is still one of my better drawings, IMO.

Oh, by the way:

the thumb of the kerbal enjoying his engineering should be in front of the tool to hold it properly, very nice picture though!

Good catch. The Kerbal could still keep a grasp on the wrench though, even if he likely couldn't actually do any mechanical work with it, so I'm not going to redo it. Thanks for finding that though.

Very nice, I like thing with a unique art style (also I can't draw, at all. Seriously. I can only draw networks of dots and lines with basic shading :(, but oh well. I'm more of a networks guy myself anyway). I'll see if I can't get a couple of my pictures of debris up for you (if you run out of ideas :) )

Thanks for these drawings, mate! You inspired me to start drawing again! Both KSP, Minecraft and War Thunder and other games!

Thank you! ^_^

You’re very welcome! Glad to be inspiring people as famous as the BriXman himself. :D

I’m not out of ideas yet (still have two unfulfilled requests), but feel free to send in pictures at will! Just note that it will take a little while for me to get them done. I take my time on my artwork, and I think that the artwork is a bit better for it.

Oh!

I noticed something the other day. Despite the fact that this page now has over 7,000 views (and I’m still not sure why), no one apparently noticed this little grammatical issue on the original post:

[snip] After several orbits, [the debris] encountered Tylo, which caused it to deorbit Jool and be incinerated.

I’m not entirely sure what I would have to do in stock KSP to deorbit Jool. A small transfer stage certainly wouldn’t be able to do it. (heh)

Getting started on SelectHalfling0’s artwork now, will post progress Soon™.
