If you don't wander over to the challenge area, I just completed a single launch mission from Kerbin to Eve's shores for my Eve Challenge. One self contained launch from Kerbin. No rescues, no sending up other ships to dock with. Just a one shot go.

Took a few practice launches - more to make sure I had enough to get to Eve than ascending from Eve - but after some tweaking it worked.
