Conquistador-Class Colonizer

Recommended Posts

Ladies and Gentlekerbs, I present to you:

The Mechani Union's newest super-ship, the C-235X Conquistador-Class Colony Ship!

This vessel (clocking in just under 500 parts and well over 100 tons) is a true quantum leap forward in interplanetary colonization efforts!

With just one of these spectacularly large vessels, you can easily transport everything you need to start up a successful colony on a distant world!

And once you finish, it works great as an orbiting spacedock!

This ship has a whole planet's worth of LF, Oxidizer, and RCS, and has enough electrical power generation capability to power KSC for several years.

It also carries 35 Kerbals (3 Crew, 32 Passengers/Colonists), and is equipped with 32 turbocharged LV-N thermonuclear rockets, for all the efficient acceleration you could ever need!

The hangar doubles as the base structure for space habitat (if you felt inclined to renovate the ship into one).

This ship is yours for the low, low price of selling your soul to the Deep Space Kraken! (Not really. :P It's free, of course.)

Interesting design and I like the whole internal docking area thingy.

Thanks, I thought making a sort of spacedock-cargo ship hybrid would be cool.:D Plus, the new size 3 fuel tanks make them more feasible in terms of flight range.

You could make it more efficient by angling the engines to straight down.

But that way, it won't look as awesome.

I quite agree, but the overall superstructure of the ships requires the engine pods to be angled like that.

Otherwise, I'd have to heavily change the hangar/cargo area.

I will admit to not being the sharpest tool in the shed and I cannot see how to attach a booster to this craft and get it into orbit. Could you please supply a craft file with booster attached? Great looking ship, by the way.

I'll have to make one. :P The test launch used a bunch of radially attached boosters (Jeb was quite pleased), while a large SLS-part-based stack in the center of the cargo hull was the main orbital booster/main launch engine.

I also did make a cut-down version, and a modified version of that, with half the engines.

EDIT: I just found Redshift OTF's Pegasus launch vehicle, that should work. You may need to launch the ship upside-down though, with LOTS of struts holding it on.

@Redshift OTF, your rocket's a ship-saver. :D
