And down it went.

Did you live under a rock? :o

No just didnt hear about every single starlett in the world. Or if heard about, my brain decided that the information is not important enough to remember.

Worldvide known modern bands or singers i know: Metalica, Iron Maiden, Gamma Ray, Judas Priest, MotorHead, Avenged Sevenfold, Sonata Arctica, Eluveitie, Korpiklaani, Sabaton, Cradle of filth, Two steps from Hell, Lordi, Equilibrium, Kiss, Beatless, Rammstein, Dropkick Murphys, Nirvana, Apocalyptica, Amanda Palmer, Sepultura, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Rise Against, Arkona, and few more.

How much of them did you know before i mentioned them? about half of them?

Even in case of my favorite bands i remember only name of the band and names and lyrics of my favorite songs. Any other info is useless for me. Sometimes i know the lyrics but dont remember the name of the song or name of the band.

Iam a bussy person, i Work, i do sports, i play videogames, i read a lot, i have lots of different hobbyes, and music and film are not one of them. i use music only as an background for my workouts and if i drive a car. Or sometimes at work if i need to focus i play music in my headphones to supress the sounds of the rest of our officespace that are distracting me, I rarely realy listen to the music or care about it.

Well, David Bowie isn´t just one of those 08/15 Starlets that appear and then are never heard from again ... but rather one of the big ones, like the Rolling Stones or Pink Floyd ... people who don´t know him (at least by name) are just as a rare sight as people who don´t know Star Wars

And 70% ;-)

David Bowie is not a "starlett", LOL.

It's like you've never heard of Pink Floyd or Beatles or Springsteen. Granted, I don't listen to his music, never have and I don't feel the need for it, but I know there is a famous singer by that name whose looks were scandalous at the time. I think that sums up expected level of knowledge about him.

You've mentioned 26 bands/singers. I haven't heard of 4 of them: Gamma Ray, Avenged Sevenfold, Amanda Palmer and Arkona. I've looked at their Wikipedia pages and I see their popularity niches are incredibly narrow compared to Bowie. Genres are relatively unpopular and their fame is not near Michael Jackson or Iron Maiden.

By all means, I'm not mocking you. I just think it's weird and unusual.

I remember an article last year in a business magazine discussing the legal issues surrounding recording and producing a music video in a craft that can pass over dozens of countries in minutes. All the copyright laws, so complicated! But it wasn't an issue because Hadfield had permission to distribute his cover - for a year.

I wish I could find the article about it. It was very interesting. Also note how many parts of the video seem to be filmed over an ocean (yar har fiddle de dee, sailing on the international seas).

Actually Lajoswinker posted a link of an article in the nex economist which was exactly about the Hadfield-case a few pages ago

It is fascinating ... with just a few meters distance Hadfield would have been able to violate IP rights in different countries, as in each ISS module the laws (including IP restrictions) of the country are applied, which built the module :D

Seems like Hadfields video will float a little bit longer on youtube ...

while he himself has put his video on private, as expected,

a lot of youtube users have included the video into their channels.

Might take youtube quite a while to delete them all (if they intend to do so, that is)
