Gunslinger1
Hey Beale, is there any chance we could get the Pol in 1.25? Or a tweakscale version so we can change the size?
passinglurker
Hey Beale, is there any chance we could get the Pol in 1.25? Or a tweakscale version so we can change the size?the pol is that small in order to distinguish itself from the other unmanned supply craft. The Progress/Hamal is intended as the 1.25m supply ship
tg626
VeneraIt almost didn't make it - well the orbiter at least. My "Blok D" had a paltry 1200 ÃŽâ€v. The orbiter did get into orbit, but it's a highly elliptical one. I first corrected the whole craft into a collision course with EVE, like Venera had with Venus, the released the sphere. Once the probe had landed, I returned to the orbiter and did a retro burn and barely got captured in orbit...Beale, how do you figure the ÃŽâ€v of your block D? (as in what is it?) T'Flok
Oh, wait. PPTS is in the works finally? That's awesome!! It's about time we get a gorgeous Tantares alternative to the stock's rather ugly Mk1-2 Command Pod (I never use it due to it's boring awful look and awkward door placement). Still waiting for the next mod version with that Gemini IVA RPM support though.
Beale
Beale? perfect work on the Block D ... i love the attitude trusters for teh engine Thanks! I hope you enjoy it.http://vsm.host.ru/photos/lkeng.jpgI love rocket engine clusters :3Yeah, this is what I'm going more for. It looks a little more unique.Yay! PPTS is arriving! The PPTS hype is real. It's going to take a while, I'm afraid Gotta say the Blok D is looking fabulous. I wish I had the patience to model and texture. Many thanks! You are of course welcome to the model and texture files if you would like to take a look at them.Any ideas on how to rebalance the Proton/ALV for 6.4x? I have a space station that needs launching.A lazy method, but you could just bump up the ISP, to maybe 400 or so? You can argue it's a LH2/LOX Proton.Nice PLANETES reference.Hehe,A few Planetes parts I'd like to give a try to make:Fishbone, for TKS cargo bay.KAS-grabbable De-orbit thruster, for getting rid of junk.Hey Beale, is there any chance we could get the Pol in 1.25? Or a tweakscale version so we can change the size?do you have module manager?Try something like this for each Pol part @PART[Pollux_Control_A]{ @rescaleFactor = 2.5}This will make it a 1.25m diameter part!Venerahttp://i.imgur.com/uyM3oJ2.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/lHZ7Fcl.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/B9e4uCL.pngIt almost didn't make it - well the orbiter at least. Really nice orbiter.Your question: I tried to make a quick and dirty replica, it has 3,000m/s overall (if the LOK Engine remains fueled). The Blok-D alone will only manage about 1,600m/s if the LOK is emptied out, which is okay I guess.Still waiting for the next mod version with that Gemini IVA RPM support though. Very close now - just the LK legs and IVA, then go for release.

Djolox
Whoa, whoa, whoa! I watched the first episode of Planetes and at the start there was a spacecraft named Alnair! Is that where the ideas for names come from?

But yeah, it was a heavy influence. Also one of the agencies was named "Alnair 2068", before renaming it to "Alnair Design Bureau".I'm not a Weeaboo, honest. I have about the same numbers, +/- 20m/s - tho my TWR is way lower at 0.54 or something close to it... In case you're wondering, that Blok D stand-in is a part from the "TurboNisu Reloaded" parts pack. It's simply a "naked" 1.25 to 2.5 adapter tank, holding 270 LF and 330 OX. (Which actually holds exactly the same 270 LF and 330 OX!).You could try Aerobraking (Of course, a "proper" Venera orbiter if I make one, would likely be a lot lighter than the one you have made.)Finally! tg626
Awesome flag comrade!:-) I assume Venera's orbiter had an engine. Am I wrong? Did Blok D do the orbital braking at Venus? Animations at russiaspaceweb made me think Blok D did the transfer and then Venera did the insertion burn.... If you look at the Venera texture sheet, there is a ton of space. The landing leg looks very stock-ish And the flag is really awesome! Would love to see it ingame. Many thanks! Lunniy ComplexBlok-DLanding legs - work great! Ohoho, very close now, even at my currently slowed-down pace of work.Just need to texture the engine, then can release Beta.Of course, even when Beta, work on LK is not done even after Beta. Still, IVA and all those misc parts (Nesting jets, Antennae).Awesome flag comrade!:-) I assume Venera's orbiter had an engine. Am I wrong? Did Blok D do the orbital braking at Venus? Animations at russiaspaceweb made me think Blok D did the transfer and then Venera did the insertion burn....Thanks!I'll be honest, I have no idea. I assumed the orbiter would have a thruster, but only really for orbit adjustment, etc. But, you probably are right in the Venera doing a substantial amount of the burning.Edit: Thanks for pointing out the Russian Space Web page, it does look like the Orbiter had a significant propulsion system. Here's that Flag, fit for game, just right click and save! I like the presentation style. Now you can try with the Blok-D LK Beta 1The RD-858, or my vague interpretation of it.And the birthday lad himself.Edit: it has dawned on me I haven't bundled the FX with LK. So maybe you may want to switch the cfg to a stock FX Edited March 12, 2015 by Beale

passinglurker
didn't the LK have a honeycomb grid style docking port?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Docking_and_berthing_of_spacecraft#/media/File:Kontakt_docking_system.pngThough its novelties can't really be expressed in kerbal so it might be a bit redundant to bother making
tjsnh
Found a bug - the landing legs. If you start with them deployed, launch, hit G to retract , hit G again to extend, then hit G a third time to retract (and on any further extend/retract cycles) the legs "snap" into place instead of going through the animation.Basically, they only go through the retract animation the first time you retract them. Venera 10! Again, nice job. Is this the "Columbia Broadcasting System" again? I like the presentation style.Thank you!! I try to make it a bit different. And, weep not for Venera - even tho this is career, I allow myself to revert in the event of something like this happening (it's either that or bounce back and forth with Sandbox and experiment, so what's the difference?)Here is the successful Parking Orbit to Eve flight! billbobjebkirk
While launching my M-1 (finally!) I saw that the ALV-C engine would flame out when attached to a procedural tank, saying it's oxidizer deprived. A fuel line running from the tank to the engine fixed this, and I haven't tested it with a regular tank yet, but I should tell you.EDIT: it does work when attched to the stock tanks, so it must be an issue with the procedural tank.EDIT2: every time I try to launch a Zarya, I have trouble with the upper stage. It must be cursed.EDIT3: screenshots!Javascript is disabled. View full album Edited March 12, 2015 by billbobjebkirk
Normak
It's unfortunate that I'm out of town right now and I can't try out the new LK parts. Looking forward to using them when I get back. In the meantime, I'll be working on some new models I started this week... this pack has inspired me to get back into mod-making. Thanks Beale.
