Iskander (King of Conqu- Ahem, wrong intro.) here, known as Nemo or Cray elsewhere. I've had KSP for a while but am not much of a forum person, so I've mostly only lurked anonymously for the sake of catching announcements, keeping up with the devs' design philosophy (Which I am fairly pleased with) and taking the occasional look at the Exchange. Registering is not without uses, though, and I might take up modding if the time to learn to code ceases to elude me, so here I go.

I play KSP in bursts, getting back to it from time to time and mysteriously improving by leaps each time. The updates and improvement, particularly maneuver nodes, have helped me along, of course. Not long ago I was barely able to make a vessel capable of performing multiple Mun landings for extra science and exploration, now fuel is the only issue I've been dealing with in that department. Erring on the side of too much fuel helped, within reason. And though I am terrible enough at docking to not even bother for now, I'm finally getting things to other planets. Namely DropLab 1 in Duna and Droplab 2 in Eve. I was in something of a drop-pod mood, I'll be getting into rovers and maybe SSTOs next.

VTOLSSTO is the eventual goal, but for now it's regular planes for me. The Vanguard is an example of me suddenly jumping from terrible to decent at making something, it might be worth taking to the craft exchange.

And that's about all, folks. Glad to be around.

Welcome to the forums! :)

Since you mentioned you've been having trouble with docking, might I recommend you check out some of the tutorials I've listed on the Drawing Board? (Link in my sig.) It's got a fair number of tutorials covering rendezvous and docking in different ways and from different perspectives. Perhaps you might find one of them useful.

Welcome. I have the same thing. I once took a decently long break, came back and suddenly I was good at docking

Mechjeb or Kerbal Engineer should help you with the fuel, as it will tell you deltaV

Those are certainly helping, the Drawing Board is a very useful resource. It looks like my issue was being unable to fine tune a rendezvous to a degree I was satisfied with, then picking the wrong time to cancel the craft's speed relative to target. Knowing where I went wrong should help, I'll get to practicing when I've a little more time off and and get a low-gravity center mobile lab to look the way I want it to.

Thanks.
