rover on gilly

Recommended Posts

I've managed to get a rover to gilly and after landing i found out i cant drive my rover in that surface. the weels keep spinning but it stays in the same place.

I though of some possible explanations such as:

The rover is too light,

The weels are not adequate,

It's bugged.

I really dont have a clue to what's the reason so if someone could help i'll be glad to hear (read).

Edited:::

I found out that its still in orbit?...

still, dont have any clues.

It is almost impossible to drive rovers on Gilly as there is not enough gravity to create enough traction for wheels alone. I suggest implementing an alternate method of propulsion, such as RCS to get it goin.

Also, about the "in orbit" mode, you may just be at a high altitude (a mountain etc). To fix this, simply click the "Orbit 3.4m/s" display.

This is because the gravity on gilly is so low that the rover cant get any traction as the moment you accelerate you'll go in the air.

Yes, i though of that, but this game lets us build huge ships that explode, why wouldnt it let me accelerate?

I understand it is still being developed, but is it supposed to behave this way?

You can't accelerate because the moment your wheels start turning, they leave the ground. Gilly's gravity is so low you can ACCIDENTALLY achieve escape velocity while doing an EVA, and not even know it because you just see yourself gliding up and hit the thrusters to go back down.

Gilly is simply not the place for a rover, any more than Mun is for a glider or Eve is for ion engines. It's the wrong tool for the job.
