I saw a new plan desgin of a future aircraft. It was in a forum topic here but i forgot the name of it.

I scanned throughout Wikipedia list of aircraft and didn\'t see it. I believe that this plane is rumored but there should be stuff out about it

The plane looked like a cross of a F-117 NightHawk with other stuff.

Its plane number was like F-200 or F-350 or something like that.

Any help?

it wouldn\'t happen to be this lovley pos would it?

(in case you can\'t tell i don\'t like the f-35 much, it replaced a far better jet, the f-22.)

That tail section seriously looks photoshopped. Is it, or is the paint job really that bad?

Not to throw something in to this, but T-50 Pak Fa is better than the F22 and the F35.

Seriously how many control surfaces can you want ?

looks like almost every edge of this plane can move.......I want one.

For an analogy: the F-35 is to the F-22 what the F-16 was to the F-15.

Like the F-15, the F-22 is an uncompromising Air-to-Air fighter. It is designed to knock enemy aircraft out of the sky, and to do that efficiently. It would appear to have succeeded in this goal if exercise results are representative of real life combat. Let\'s hope we never find out!

Meanwhile, back in the 1970s it was discovered that the US Air Force would not be able to purchase enough F-15s to meet their needs; so they set up a competition for the new Light Weight Fighter (LWF). This competition produced two excellent aircraft - the YF-16, which was ultimately chosen by the Air Force to be produced as the F-16 Fighting Falcon; and the YF-17, which was never put into production but became the basis for the McDonnell-Douglas F/A-18. Although in absolute terms the F-16 is big and expensive, as fighter jets go it\'s actually small and cheap; and the US Air Force was able to buy a lot more of them.

In a similar vein, the changing political realities (as well as skyrocketing development costs) have meant that the US Air Force cannot get as many F-22s as they\'d like (to be fair, they are the most expensive fighter ever made). Fortunately for them, they already had the F-35 in the R&D cycle. This was designed to be a multi-role combat aircraft. It can\'t match an F-22 in air combat. It\'s not meant to. It\'s meant to be the jack-of-all-trades combat aircraft that can carry bombs, recon pods, air to ground or air to air missiles, even a laser weapon (if the technical types ever actually get one working[1]). It\'s fairly stealthy, so it will be difficult to detect (more so than even the F-117A, although not as stealthy as the F-22). It will also be considerably cheaper than the F-22, and will be produced for a large number of countries, which means a large production run, which means further reductions in costs (as the costs are spread out over a lot of nations). This is the aircraft that will replace the F-16 and F/A-18 in many of the developed world\'s countries.

Despite the skepticism that many people have about this project, my experience is that generally the kinks get worked out. When there are so many countries riding on the one project, failure really isn\'t an option.

[1] This sounds like science fiction, I know. It\'s not; there are three models of F-35, the A (land based), the B (Carried based, and VTOL) and the C (Carrier based, with catapult and arrester hook), and the A and C have a space where the B model has its lift fan. Since this is already set up to allow the engine shaft to power something in this area, the idea has been proposed to use the shaft to power an oversized generator, and use the extra electricity to power a laser ('directed energy weapon' being the technical term). This would have the advantage of being able to hit targets at the speed of light (simplifying targeting immensely) and not require ammunition. However, it is certainly a long way off, if it is EVER going to be practical.

I went to bed after i made this post.

Not the F-35?

No.

Thing of a night hawk flying toward your face. Then make the edges of the wing turn 90 degrees downward.

Im pretty sure that this plane was made for a bomber/fighter profile. Not a interceptor/fighter.

I f the F number was higher than 100, then it must have been from before 1962, when they reset the numbers. Either that or it was a \'rumoured\' plane, which probably means it only existed in the head of whoever made the picture.

I\'m sorry, mate, but the only plane that looks even remotely like the F-117 is the Have Blue technological demonstrator, and that doesn\'t have downturned wingtips. If it looks like an F-117, then it\'s badly outdated and definitely not a new project intended for production.

As for that plane in the trailer, that\'s some kind of transport, looks nothing like an F-117, and doesn\'t exist.

It\'s not replacing the F-22. They have different roles.

its not realy replacing it, but the development program replaced it cuz the f-22 was to expensive. however, the f-35 is not any better than the f-22, and the only improvments from f-16/15/18 that it will be replacing is stealth and cost. in all other ways, the planes it is replacing are better combat jets.

also look for a pic and we can probably put a name on it. but what your describing sounds like a fake plane right now.

Something I have been looking for, thanks.

I agree on the idea that he is thinking about a fake jet.

Not on everything else. On the surface the F-35 is replacing a better aircraft, but it like saying the Panavia Tornado ADV was replacing a better aircraft (English Electric Lightning). The F-35 has better radar, better electronics (even better than the F-22 in some respects) and if in a group of 4 or more against 2 f-22, has been said that it would win.

The F-22 however is an overpriced plane that should have been axed 10 years ago along with the V-22. Its got great performance that comes at a cost, the matenance for it is atrocious. It requires survacing every 48 hours, which if there was no people to service for 3-4 days, it would compremise the stealth and capablity of the aircraft.

Now that we are talking about Fifth Gen Jet Fighters, here is the chinese one:
