It depends on the reason for the plane crashing, if it was cos of a genuine design fault or pilot error then I'll leave it be, if it was because of a load-of-bull-stupid-game-sucks-and-that-should-have-worked-dumb-game-is-broken-glitch-suck-rubbish-I-hates-it-filthy-hobbitses, then I'll load the save.

Mostly it's getting mechjeb to assist with landing that causes the second category which is why I only use it for info displays now when landing.

I quickload if there's a game glitch, if I accidentally overshoot a maneuver node while timewarping (I'm 100% stock, so no KAC), for new spacecraft tests, or for speed/convenience. I do not quickload for legitimate piloting mistakes, miscalculating my delta-v required, forgetting a part, crashing, or other human error.

I also use revert-to-launch or revert-to-VAB for new craft that I'm testing before the real mission, whether the test was successful or not. It's faster than landing the whole thing, or trying to land a lifter stage that wasn't designed to land at all.

And then there's the failed launches on real missions. I always build escape towers into manned launches, so if there's an emergency, I first hit my abort button. Once the manned pod has reasonably cleared the disaster, there's no point in waiting while it parachutes the rest of the way to safety. I just revert-to-VAB because, well, my RL time is valuable to me.

In case of emergency i ask myself "will it be fun to cope with the situation?" If yes, i carry on, if no i reload. Its a game, and i have nothing to proof, so why not? :)

This basically :P. Situations I always qsave beforehand off the top of my head: before upgrading Computer Cores in Interstellar, 'cause those things are expensive and I don't want to lose all that science if Jeb sneezes and rips all the radiators off or I've somehow launched it with only a day's worth of reactor mass etc. . Before aerobraking, because normally by the time I realise I've made a mistake the whole mission is doomed. I tend to also save before de-orbiting over Kerbin.

In this situation, I'll carry on.

Doing a reload just to have the opportunity for the plane to land perfectly ? I'll have another 100'th times to do those manoeuvers again, and loosing 1/4h of my time just to perform a docking and a landing is wastfull IMO.

I tend to keep going and carry on. I'm of the mindset that the big three get a nice comfortable retirement on the Island Runway and I start working through my list of willing victims... I mean, um, applicants. If they blow up, they blow up. If they survive, they get another round.
