How is 64 bit working for you ?

I feel like the only one that doesn't know what the "decoupler bug" is. Can someone send me some knowledge?

Also, I have a relatively low end computer, 4ghz dual-core in an AMD3 socket with 4gb ddr2 ram, with a Geforce FX 550 TI plugged into it (thank goodness my GPU is backwards compatible with PCI\Ex x16 ) and x64 is running like a whole new world. Framerates I haven't seen before, even though I've bumped the settings up. Haven't really gotten into the large-part-count territory just yet but I'm seeing massive improvements already. People on the forums seem convinced that if you have a low-end computer and don't use enough mod to hit memory limits there are no positives to running x64 but my experience, whatever their technical genesis, is the exact opposite.

I don't mind spam clicking a little so the right-click bug is fine. If that's sorted along with the decoupler bug (F5 fixes that), it will be amazing.

Wait F5 fixes the decoupler bug.

I feel like someone who has just docked, discovered you can drag manoeuvre nodes, shift-tab to go back in the focus list, backspace to re-set the camera on your craft and first landed on the mun.

I can't thanks you enough (unless I'm interpreting this wrong, but what [98.4%] are the chances of that?!)

I really want to switch over to 64-bit because of all the mods that I want to use but can't because they would put me past the 3.5gb memory limit. But I'm having a problem where the orbits of planets and everything else don't show up on the map screen, which makes it pretty much impossible to do anything. Once this problem gets fixed I'm gonna switch over and never look back, unless it gets buggy again.

With the number and type of mods that I have, the game currently crashes with every scene change that is attempted. I do not play stock, so I have no data on that. So far, my experience has been the worst of my time playing this game (since 0.15). I just wanna play!

Sky, that can be because of mods.

In the cheat menu is a debug button that will show and throw exceptions.

Also in you KSP dir there will be a folder called, ex: 2014-07-26_235540

Inside there is an output_log.txt file that will, usually, show what caused the crash if it was a mod, or mod errors.

Running 64-bit with nearly 100 mods, but it was a painstaking expirience of having all mods play along nicely and try to resolve conflicts.

So far it has been running great, with a debug here and there, and with the rare Unity engine random crash that can`t be helped.

Sadly they killed my ksp fun with 0.24.0-1-2, mods wont work and vanilla game is sadly a piece of crap.

Interesting. Dont want to call something "a piece of crap", but right now i'm playing KSP .24.2 in 32bit with a great many mods and after some investment of time in updating all the mods it runs like a charme ... without crashes. In 64bit it has its bugs, but far from feeling the need to call KSP .24 (vanilla or not) "a piece of crap". Other things ... not so sure :)

So you play 32 bit but feel the need to punt into the 64 bit thread...

Try the 64 bit with your mods of choice, then come back and you can have a post.

I tried the 64 bit and had my first keyboard lockup, have been playing since 18.4. Also a lot of issues, such as not able to control a Kerbal on Minus, moved like 10 times what he should have. Yes, I know I have been on Minmus before. Went back to 32 bit and everything is fine. Another thing is I can multitask to the desktop in 32 bit no problem, but in 64 bit the programs start having issues. I see the 64 bit runs just fine for some people, and I really wanted to use it, but maybe it just is a problem for my i7 3770 3.50 cpu, or the GTX 670 it is not liking. In any case the 32 bit runs great, no lag, no issues.

I had serious problems in 0.22 - 0.235 because the scale of my operations started to run into the 4GB limit 1500 m/s Tylo lander style, in short I had to restrict myself hard to not creating a crashfeast.

Currently however 0.24 64 bit has serious problems with mods but Im going for a 14 day vacation tomorrow so most of this is probably fixed tomorrow, mostly game crash then trying to load modules in VAB, kethane is not updated for 0.241 and so on.

I'm having a hell of a time getting mods to work in x64. But as I'm reading I'm realising.. it's not the mods. Most of them state they are updated to 24.2, but I keep getting crashes when loading the space center after clicking a save. I get a black screen and just birds chirping. All I have to do is hit escape and the game closes.

I thought this was a particular mod. I can get certain mods to load and some not at all. It's very erratic. Toolbar gives me a black screen, alarm clock, KER and.. a few others I can't think of at the moment... So what's going on here?

First crash on a save, after a good 10+ hours of game... no idea if it's 64 or 32 bit or both... so will investigate.

So after all, this update is no worse or better than most. No complaints. :)

[edit]

Workaround for my crash was loading a different scene (tracking station) and going back to the one crashing (VAB). Now all works well. So at least the bugs are not continuous, and I can hold on till they get squashed. :)

I can tolerate the 64-bit quirks, actually. It's worth it for the "I can do that? I can install every mod in my mods archive?" factor. No more cycling mods in and out, dumping pieces from parts packs, etc.
