Deleting a mod

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a mod (life support) installed, and I have some parts being used by my space station. How can I delete this mod? Do I have to delete that station first?

Thanks

Deleting the mod is straightforward, simply nuke the mod subfolder from the GameData folder (eg. d:\steam\steamapps\common\kerbal space program\gamedata\engineer)

The effect this will have on your station is less predictable. Might just load up sans the mod parts. Might... not.

It will probably delete all crafts that have modded parts when you load without those mods installed.

It probably won't crash your game.

Make a backup of the save, delete the mod, load save. If it works, all good. If it doesn't, reinstall the mod and delete the modded crafts manually (than delete the mod)

If you delete the mod, the MOMENT you open the save, the WHOLE station and anything connected to it will be destroyed. The game will remove it completely. It will also tell you that its done that, it won't just do it out of nowhere. So yeah. Hope this helps!

EDIT: The rest of the save WILL load, as long as any other ships don't have the modded parts attached.

When the save loads, it will tell you which ships it has been unable to load due to missing parts. And usefully, it will tell you which parts they are.

Maybe you could remove all of the mod except those parts? So the mod doesn't run but the ships still load, just with redundant parts. Dunno if this would work.
