Select one part in symmetry for a custom action?

Recommended Posts

I built a buggy and placed the front/back wheels diagonally using symmetry and after test driving, I wanted to assign an custom action to lock steering for the back wheels. But when I selected one back wheel to add an action, it automatically selected the front wheel diagonal from the center that was placed using 2x symmetry. Is there a way to only select one part at at time for actions? I've tried holding select, ctrl, and alt while selecting the parts but it didn't work.

TBH auto-selecting all parts that were placed together using symmetry for an action group is pretty stupid..

Have you tried building the buggy in the SPH? you would be able to use symmetry to add the back wheels and then the front wheels, allowing you to assign action groups to the front and back wheels. It doesn't really fix your problem, but it's a workaround.

You can build in the SPH, as mentioned above, which gives you mirrored rather than rotational symmetry.

Alternatively, I believe that the Editor Extensions mod allows you to select mirrored symmetry in the VAB as well, but I don't use it so I'm not sure.

Action Groups Extended is another mod that will help. It lets you set and edit up to 250 action groups in the VAB/SPH and in flight - so you can correct rovers and other vehicles you've already launched as well. By default it'll include all parts placed with symmetry but you can tell it not to.

Yes, it does. Very useful. It can add radial attachement to part which does not have such thing.
