Mu with a simple statement: "Not us."

If that's the case, then I wonder which mod.

I'm using:

Toolbar, KAC, KER, MechJeb, EVE + Astronomer, Alternate Resource Panel, Action Groups Extended, StageRecovery, Targetron, and TextureReplacer.

I heavily suspect TR is the culprit. WololoW was the only one to post a screenshot without clouds. I'm convinced it's coming from a mod. Also I just remembered EVE hasn't been updated for 0.24 so it can't be that.

In any case, I'm cycling the game (booting it up and shutting it down) repeatedly on my (sadly) stock install. I'll let you know if I find anything.

EDIT: Well I didn't find the easter egg, but I did find this unsettling glitch (look at the shadows on the ground). The object appears to be the plane landing gear. But why are there two Kerbal shadows...?

Toolbar, EVE, Kerbal Engineer, KerbCam, NavyFish, PorkWorks inflatable crew modules, procedural fairings, shipmanifest and KAC.

I don't have Texture Replacer (but is EVE sharing parts with it?)

Confirmed it's not Texture Replacer, and also confirmed it's not stock. I've been booting up 4 instances of KSP at a time and the easter egg hadn't shown up once. I've noticed Toolbar is a semi-common theme but I really don't want to go chasing shadows. Best explanation I can muster is that people are screwing with us.

No I got this yesterday too! This is most certainly not fake. I thought it was a glitch. I was trying to install RSS but it was unsuccessful. However this occurred during on of my attempts.

The only ones from that list I could have had installed and not remembered would be - Toolbar, KAC, KER, and ARP. That narrows the list down considerably.

**EDIT**

I think I found the culprit. Look at your install of Toolbar and look for a file named sh.png... Look familiar?

Double checked, my .24.0 install has no sh.png in the toolbar folder.

Oh, that didn't last very long, I guess. Some people are just too smart. So let me say:

I made this.

Of course I was just trying to have a little fun (*) - I hope you had some, too.

The whole thing took me quite a while to figure out, what with the spawning of Kerbals and models. I've also tried a few other things, but they wouldn't work for various reasons:

  • Remove Kerbin from the sky and put it on the ground. - It just wouldn't move.
  • Add additional light sources to produce multiple shadows. - No more than a single shadow possible.
  • Spawn in mechanics from the VAB. - I couldn't get them to work. I really loved that idea!
  • Put a Kerbal behind the camera to produce a nice big shadow to make the light source look fake. - Shadow didn't look quite right to me.
  • Put a Kerbal behind the hills in the background to make those look like fake billboards. - I couldn't find a good place to put him to really sell that idea.

I may have forgotten some other ideas I've tried.

So yeah, I was just trying to have a little fun. I hope you all enjoyed it, too, and that noone is mad at me or something.

(I have nothing to do with the weird landing gear glitch, though.)

Edit: I have yet to see a screenshot of the new stuff I put in after they first appeared...

(*) No Kerbals were harmed in the process.

Nice one :) Unfortunately toolbar is crashing my x64 version and until an update I have to live without it. After uninstalling it I indeed didn't see that main menu screen anymore.

But now I have another issue: Kerbals on Laythe have no helmet on and no Jetpack. Lights work, as you can see in the pictures, but my jetpack works only with half impulse when I jump and that's about it. Problem is, I can't get now back into my ship, as my ladder is just short of jumping reach. Might this be related to texture replacer? Although everything was fine until 2 days ago.

I wish I could have spawned some VAB mechanics. I could launch the right components and such, but then it just would give errors in the log with not finding the animations that it needs to play. And I couldn't figure out how to load those. I've also tried dissecting said mechanics in the VAB at runtime, but it didn't give me any real clues. So now we need to live with some zombies instead.
