Mod recommendations - parts and gameplay

Hi!

Been playing KSP now for a while and would like to expand on the content in the game with mods. The only restriction is that it needs to be close or on the same level as stock parts or game play.

At the moment in use Kethane and like the added gameplay and would like other type of mods that work in the same way with out that it feels like I'm cheating while playing.

So parts should only add diversity and not be overpowering compared to stock parts and gameplay. So I want as close to a stock game experience I can get with mods.

Hopefully my description of what im looking for is not to unclear. So any suggestions for mods that's on-par with the stock game are areappreciated. =)

I also don't like weird, unrealistic stuff so I understand what you're trying to accomplish.

Deadly Reentry for that so much needed realism of coming back home. Slamming into Kerbin at interplanetary speeds is not a nice to do to Kerbals.

Distant Object Enhancement because that's how stuff in space looks like.

Kerbal Engineer Redux for counting delta-v. You can't cheat using it, unlike MechJeb which can be considered cheating in certain cases.

Environmental Visual Enhancements for the looks.

Near Future Solar because it has incredibly nice and realistic solar panels.

DMagic Orbital Science because it has cool stuff you can attach to your stations and probes. Magnetometer boom, antennas... Very nice.

KOSMOS because it has great engines, struts and solar panels. It gives your vehicles a professional feeling.

Procedural Fairings and Procedural Parts so you can enclose the cargo and make stock-like, rich and imaginative stuff.

RCS Sounds because it's cool.

Real Chute if you want to avoid exposing anything to 15 G spikes.

Texture Replacer to remove the ungodly stock skybox.

Some of the examples from my screenshot folder:

The station looks amazing when the panels are deployed.

Thanks. No, that's Atlas texture from Procedural Parts, looks metallic. I didn't even know there was that reflective shader for KSP. I see there isn't a new version, so I'll pass. My computer is also on the verge of huge framerate drop, and I'd like to keep it >25.

What do you mean by sig? Picture or the text?

I have a very similar outlook on mods as you. I'd suggest you click the mod list link in my signature to see my mods and the links to the places to get them.

The ones in my list that I would suggest you consider with a grain of salt(due to them not fitting your description exactly) are Remote Tech 2 and TAC Life Support as they change the core gameplay quite a bit.

*Edit* Another point I forgot to add to this post and my mod list is that the game boots up at 2.1gb RAM usage with my personal edits to ATM Aggressive and using half texture size via the stock squad settings.

Yea the pic under your post. Is it just a photoshoped Eve? Oh and yea.. the reflective shader I personally found to be more trouble then its worth. I didn't get loss of framerates, but a bad stutter with it.

Yes, it's a colorized screenshot to look a bit more like Venus.

What I'm currently running, on a dodgy old laptop with no graphics card:

Spaceplane Plus.

Procedural Fairings.

Ferram Aerospace Research.

TAC Fuel Balancer.

TAC Life Support.

Kerbal Alarm Clock.

Kerbpaint.

Mechjeb.

Editor Extensions.

RCS Build Aid.

Part Angle Display.

Active Texture Management.

Environmental Visual Enhancements.

Enhanced Navball.

Firespitter.

Klockheed Martian.

Hot Rockets.

Navball Docking Alignment Indicator.

NRAP.

Smokescreen.

Tweakscale.

EVA Parachutes.

It seems that the only mods that really strain your computer are the parts packs. When it comes to utility mods, so long as they're 24.2 compliant, go nuts.
