what is FAR and SSTO

Recommended Posts

In addition to diomedea's response, many KSP players use SSTO as shorthand for single-stage to orbit spaceplane. It's technically not correct as non-spaceplanes can be SSTOs, but it is a popular usage of the term around here.

To illustrate...

This is an SSTO spaceplane:

This is an SSTO that isn't a spaceplane (the bit that's detached is the cargo, not a booster stage):

What navball mod are you using there? Is that just an option on Enhanced Navball, or something else?

Something else. Navball Changer with this texture, though many others are available in the thread. It's a hidden gem of a mod buried in the Add-on Requests forum, the author seems resistant to starting a proper release thread for it.

The fact that thing is an SSTO just doesn't feel right :S

48-7S OP plz nerf.

Heh, I think it can be done with an FL-T200, for that matter, but there's little margin for error. That one can reach the Mun.

Though really, just about any rocket engine can make an SSTO if the payload is only a probe core.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
