  1. 1. Which mod do you think will be added?

Allow me to step aside and let CynicalMe take the keyboard for a moment.

I voted "Other," and here's why. I think what they incorporate will be one of these two things:

Something that a lot of people don't care about, or that doesn't really change the game all that much. This would be sad.

Something that is a cornerstone of the modding community, but they'll nerf it so the original mod would be better but now the original mod is relegated to being a clunky addon that only old stodgy players install.

As they said it's not a mod but it's a modDER, I'm going with the first thing. It's something similar to a current mod but not the same, and it won't be a huge deal.

I was going to say Kerbal Alarm Clock or some other means of predicting transfer windows, but i already figured out how to predict without any tools...

So i'm gonna go with the banana, especially the one in the canister.

(The big one is just too BIG & silly)

I'm being selfish but I hope it's not KER. It'd be great, but I would be disappointed. I am hoping it is something big, like B9/KW big. KER is a relative small mod, albeit an important one.

That said, I do not deny that KER can be a possible candidate. KER is a simple, yet important mod for many players, even necessary for some. It'd would definitely be a welcoming addition into stock KSP. However, I think they have mentioned before they would prefer the "numbers" to not be stock.

Ferram has stated that that it is not FAR/NEAR. Arsonide has also stated that it is not FP. Of course they could be saying that under an NDA, but there is no need for them to lie. Besides, lying is bad and morally wrong. So that leaves FAR/NEAR and FinePrint out.

Many have mentioned KAS. I seriously doubt that as KAS is rather buggy so I don't think it can be considered "very well made mod".

KER is simple to USE, but I don't really think you can call it simple. The simulations it must run to figure out the dV are probably quite difficult, if the crazy rockets I've built that confuse the heck out of it are any indication.

Maybe it's not been updated recently because it's being incorporated into the game...

Let's think outside the box slightly. We know that the devs are not concentrating on adding in content at the moment, instead focusing on the mechanics of the game. To me this seems to rule out a parts mod. According to the tweet it is something parts "related" but we don't know what that means at this time.

My guess is that they would go for something that adds a different mechanic to the game, say for example Kerbal Attachment System, I think anyone who has used that mod understands that it could be so much more with some love and care. Plus it could be used to expand the damage and repair mechanic that is partially implemented. Thus adding more depth without too much complexity to the game.

Going in the other direction however with Hugo doing some work on the plane parts it could be Spaceplanes Plus.

At no point have they said modder. The SomethingAwful and Twitter link all mention the word mod.

Spaceplane+ or Kerbal Orbiter Mod.

I don't think that it is a resource mod. thats too "sci-fi"... i hope they don't insert something unrealistic... with spaceplan+ or the orbiter they have something great and many waited for that. and with the nasa addon its realistic to have space shuttles. that's an important NASA part i'm missing.

also it could be mechjeb or kerbal engineer. they said in the past that they will intregrate something like kerbal engineer.

Sorry, you are correct.

However they specifically said it's NOT a mod, but a modified version of a mod. Hence they're paying a modder to make something like their mod.

Of course, I'm going by the word of someone who we recently had a huge debate over if he said "we're" or "are" so maybe I'm reading too much into this.

I think KAS would be the best thing for them to pick up (if they can squash the ships-suddenly-explode bugs). Sorta fits the Kerbals-building-wacky things theme very well..and orbital construction in stock is very meh right now..

Well two things about that:

1. That's kinda duplication of work, unless Hugos' stuff turned out to be unusable for some reason (or if his work involved making the existing plane parts more SPP-like/fit together properly with SPP parts--but the pictures we've seen so far don't really bear that out).

2. Spaceplane Plus actually looks a little too good for stock, hehe. They'd almost be forced to adopt KW or AIES or such to bring up the rockety side to SPP levels. :S

I'm guessing it's definitely a parts mod. If it was just a mechanic, the devs would just code it. They could probably integrate it better with the game by doing it themselves.

A part, however, consists on an art asset, something they could only add to the game if they bought from the creator. I speak from experience - I've sold art assets to another game studio once. From Squad's point of view, it makes more sense to buy a good parts mod that fits the existing style, such as SpacePlane Plus.

I might be wrong.

I hope it's not something too big so that if it's not something I care about or want to use then I still have enough memory left for the mods that I do want/use. 64 bit is still a little unstable at the moment so I still use 32 bit.

Having said that though, Spaceplane+ would be ace but I don't think it'll be something as major as that.

Spaceplane Plus might mesh nicely with Hugo's parts. If he only redid the Mk3 series and the Mk1 cockpit, SP+ would fill the Mk2 series out nicely. Makes for a nice, reasonably complete spaceplane update.

I hope we don't have to wait for 0.25 to get whatever it is. A part addition update between big releases would be fantastic.

Well we don't know the extent of Hugo's work at this point in time, so far I haven't seen anything that indicates that he worked on the MK2 line, he might have concentrated on the MK3 and MK1 possibly. Most likely not but this is a possibility.

Yea I agree, I fully understand that the stock textures are not a priority at the moment but one can dream. I mean the NASA parts have scratches on them for crying out loud.

Edit:

Darn ninja

Maxmaps did mention parts that are non-hugo earlier. But it won't really make sense to modify a part mod, let alone pay for it.

I am guessing that it is a mod that has parts+plugins.

Like RT. gives you antennas.

or KAS. Gives you winches and stuff.

or even firespitter

Anyway, has anyone mentioned firspitter yet?

I think firespitter can be a possibility as well.
