white_coat_awesome
sorry to say, but can´t find such an item or part, what did I miss?[Edit]Found an "excavator.cfg" inside the "regolith PRE 0.0.2" release, tryin that now[/Edit][Edit2]Mining Asteroid [/Edit2]What exactly did you have to do to get this to work? I'm having the exact same issue right now
captainradish
It has to be some kind of mod conflict, I think. I'm having exactly the same issue. Only on my end I can't get the Regolith extractor to work either. It displays status: no resource data and obstinately refuses to do anything useful. The Jaw just says "status: no info." RoverDude
hrm. Let me take a look. For you folks having issues, try ART on a clean install and make sure you're on 0.90 and have all of the bits that come with the ZIP file. white_coat_awesome
Just re installed from the zip (I used CKAN to install ART previously). Overwrote anything that was requested, still no function on my ship already attached to the class E rock.EDIT: Going to try it on vanilla 0.90 in a min. Blazku
I have the same problem aswell. Already tried on a clean install of KSP 0.90, jaw still doesn't work.
Cubeolus
okay so I left the ship docked at my asteroid yesterday in the late night, shut down the PC went to bed, got up, started KSP loaded savefile, went to tracking station and loaded my asteroid miner, aaaaand the camera went total crazy, I couldn´t zoom in or out, didn´t see anything but kerbin, altimeter went down, camera through the planet, and than out of kerbin system... I probably shouldn´t have tried out the 0.0.2 ORE release of regolith, but there is no "excavator" in the newer files....anyway, all my other crafts (four in total) had the same issue.. so I guess I´m gonna try the vanilla thingy and then reinstall all the mods one by one... RoverDude
Yeah do NOT use that old version of Regolith, horrible things will happen as it is not 0.90 compatible. If you want an excavator, go grab AMT from the links in my sig for now (it's on the catalog page) till I can get ART taken care of - probably not till late Sunday as I am playing a concert (Mercury Lounge, lower east side at 7:30 Sunday for any of you in NYC who like indie rock). Berserker66
Since we don't have a Thread for Asteroid Mining yet, I'll put my suggestion here:I'd be great to see how much asteroid is "left" somehow. ETA at current mining time or just a mass amount and we can do the math ourselves - just something.
coldn
I'm just here looking for an answer too after trying to vent my asteroid base but I did go through the ART files and noticed something. While my asteroids list as 0/0 Rock resource (as well as all others), looking at the detailed resources they are listed as 0.0001/0, which is the same as what is listed in the config file (asteroid.cfg) in the ART install file. Maybe that is how it is supposed to be but changing that number does nothing, then I realized that with other modifications to asteroids in other mods I've looked at, once the asteroid is outfitted with resources, that change is permanent...?I have a backup so its no worries, just trying to help if that information is at all any help. I also installed AMT as you said, it didn't change anything. The config file for the latest AMT version, or anywhere else in the mod, has anything listed at all about a Rock resource. Anyway, have happy holidays everyone. Goodluck figuring this out!

Berserker66
..Until there is a fix, the only way to use ART, is to install AMT and use the Regolith Excavactor.
RoverDude
So for you fine folks having issues...I just ran on my own dev save and no issues on this end, so I'm at a loss as I have nothing to fix.So.Please do this for me. DELETE your 000_USITools, CommunityResourcePack, Regolith, and UmbraSpaceIndustries folders. If you have SCANSat, get rid of that, too.Reinstall (IN THIS ORDER)SCANSatARTAny other USI mods FROM THE CURRENT ZIPS ON GITHUBRe-install Regolith and CRP FROM THE CURRENT ZIPS ON GITHUBIn that precise order, and always overwrite. The reason being that not all of them have the current Regolith version (0.1.1).Post back if it works... which it should, given that that's precisely what I have working. Use the 'latest release' links from the USI catalog in my signature please.
kpu3uc
did not work
KBluey
Same here, I followed the steps you set out and still have the same problem....jaw won't melt rock, no mining occurring. I'm using Custom Asteroids btw, which claims it's not updated for 0.90...
RoverDude
Did you try on a clean 0.90 install? Again, would love to help but I simply cannot reproduce your issue on a clean 0.90 install. I'll be releasing a patch anyway but all it does is bundle the things noted above. Again, would love to help but I simply cannot reproduce your issue on a clean 0.90 install. I'll be releasing a patch anyway but all it does is bundle the things noted above. Is it possible that the bugs are occurring because the jaw expects a module on the asteroid that would be added when it's spawned, that doesn't exist for ones created before the mod was added? I have the same issue, however my installation isn't even close to a stock one.I'm going to time accelerate and capture a new asteroid to see if I'm allowed to hollow out that one.[edit] Quick examination of the new asteroid in the persistent file appears identical to something a stock game would throw out. However, I'm curious if there should be an additional module on the docked asteroid from when the jaw attached to it...I'd expect that to be the case, as that's likely how you'd be storing the information on how much of the rock has been mined. I do see the two USI tank modules and the rock resource in the sfs file, though.Could I take a peek at the sfs file you use to test? Berserker66
I'm in the process of uploading my entire gamedata minus stock, so you can use that for testing. I'm certain all the framework dlls are fully up to date, and ART does not work.
RoverDude
Then something is fishy, because as noted, works perfectly fine for me. And it is impossible for me to fix something that I cannot see as broke. Are you folks in fact doing this on a new save? Are you loading older vessels (even templates from the VAB), etc.? Are you starting with a NEW ship?
Berserker66
The thing is that the regolith excavator works regardless - so something between the two modules is different.

Are you starting with a NEW ship?New save with 0.90.0, new ship (hate using pre-build except if I made it that save), one or two old mods (can't remember which).I didn't clean out my old KSP folder as I've manually modified a few things, notable stock/KW parts to eliminate just about every stock part and put KW rocketry parts in their place. I highly doubt that's causing the issue, though.
RoverDude
And that's where I am going. If the Regolith excavator is working... it uses precisely the same modules as the Jaw does now. But if you are using an old, saved version of an ART type ship, or even loading a template from the VAB of a craft file... it will not work. You need to test this with a completely new ship (not loaded, created)

I don't have any ships saved that use the jaw (until after I did the things I wanted to and ran into this issue), and I never use prefabs. RoverDude
Do you use Universal Storage? Did you try this on a clean install with only the mods listed above in my prior post?
Berserker66
Do you use Universal Storage? Did you try this on a clean install with only the mods listed above in my prior post?No to both. Also my gamedata folder (except stock) for debugging:https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxhjgB6mlZ6rWVp4OEJtOXhyYzQ/view?usp=sharingMaybe that helps - if with that it works for you, then its savegame related, otherwise you might be able to find a plugin conflict - either way, it should narrow it down. RoverDude
Guys. If you want me to help you, you really need to do what I asked and try this on a clean install as requested, with just the mods noted and installed in the way requested. otherwise I am not going to support ya.
