FAR or NEAR, what do you use and why?

You can blame NEAR for the loading that caused the failure, but you can't blame it for changing the structural integrity of the vehicle, because it doesn't.

Agreed. And to be complete, I don't remember anybody saying that NEAR caused their ships to be more frail. Jus that it caused them to be more likely to fall apart when they turned 45 degrees at 10km like they used to be able to in the stock aerodynamics. :)
