Shift keys not working in KSP

Recommended Posts

Hi Everybody!

I've got this very strange problem with key mappings inside KSP.. My shift keys are not funtioning inside KSP! (As you can imagine, only being able to decrease throttle (L-Ctrl) and not increase (L-Shift) throttle leads to dead Kerbals :P)

What I've tried so far:

- Try to re-register the key in the KSP settings (KSP is not registering that I press the shift key)

- Downloaded a keyboard testing program. Results: Shift key is working normaly.

- Checked sticky keys setting (is OFF)

- Verify local game cache in Steam.

- Re-install KSP.

- Exit non-essential programs (Anti Virus, Firewall incl.)

- Run KSP as administrator. (KSP

- Change keyboards.

My specs:

- KSP build id = 5592014-07-25_13-00-35Branch: master (Steam edition, logfile wasn't in the X64 dir, so I guess that is is 32 bit)

- Windows 8.1 Enterprise (64 bit)

- Keyboard: Logitech Internet 350

If anybody has some suggestions how to solve this, please share :)

My computer has a problem using the SHIFT key also. What happens to mine is that it overflows the keyboard buffer and stops responding (or beeps at me when I press a key). So I've had to remap my throttle keys to 'Z' (decrease) and 'X' (increase). That also means I had to remap my "Cut Throttle" option (which I set to '?').

Perhaps with your keyboard/computer setup, you might be running into the same thing? I know it's not a fix that allows you to use the SHIFT key, but it fixes my throttle and keyboard problems. So I know it's just my computer that isn't liking the repeated pressing on SHIFT.

Good luck,

~Claw

I can confirm I had this issue, and disabled 'FilterKeys' note the change didn't help KSP until I closed everything and did a complete PC reboot

* windows 8.1 64 bit, 32bit KSP 1.0.2

-go to Control Panel\Ease of Access\Ease of Access Center\

-Make the keyboard easier to use

-Uncheck Filterkeys, Togglekeys, and Stickykeys

-Apply changes and reboot PC

Are you using Synergy? It won't pass the shift key to KSP.

As a necro update, I had this problem during a stream earlier. The fix is to start up the Synergy "window", not just the service... opening the synergy management window then using it's 'Hide" function fixes the lack of shift key.
