Internal space size

Let me explain with pictures.

I made simple test craft for project of mine. The idea is to make smallest possible craft a kerbal can fit in:

in flight:

interior:

kerbal and craft on pad:

As you can see, kerbal fits nicely inside, plenty of space, but when standing next to it, craft is smaller than helmet?!

No rescaling in .cfg on external model. Internal space is the same model with flipped normals.

I made more than a few commant pods, it always seemed to me that internal spaces are bigger than they shoul be, but this is ridiculous.

IVA is rendered on top of the exterior so IVA can be larger than actual vessel.

Hi, i've found this as well, in my dumbass silver kerbal mod,, there is an iva that actually fits inside of a kerbal sized models helmet, which amused me a bit

Oh I see the IVA is smaller than kerbal. yeah that's no problem either. as long as the Kerbal's neck area is inside the IVA space. That's where the IVA first person camera spawns. But you can see in the portrait the portrait cam does need IVA space large enough to fit the Kerbal. or you can set the IVA to Internal Space layer, and the kerbal portrait will have simple black back ground. or something else you place behind set to Kerbals layer.

How do you make the IVA size correspond to the part size?

That's not what I mean. How do you make sure that the IVA, part size and Kerbal size all correspond.

I build the IVA inside the part; and use a 1m x 0.5m diameter cylider as standin for a Kerbal. set part to rescaleFactor = 1

That seems weird to me but OK. I'll just have to get back to it when I start doing IVAs

that's it. the orientation will give you more headaches than anything else, as much as airlock obstructed problem
