Pioneer free space sim

Its very similar to Elite but you can fly your ship with fully newtonian physics like in real life - making orbits and all the stuff that we love in KSP. And its free to download.

(almost makes me sad that Elite Dangerous does not use the same flight and space travel mechanics )

I really like this game, some of the music is great too, though for some reason sound is broken in Linux for me.

I tried to get an orbit in Pioneer, KSP style, and it works! You can burn prograde and affect your orbit, it's hard though as the game doesn't give you the right tools for it and the craft are massively overpowered, you can very easily overdo it and get an escape trajectory

I`m having some ctd problems with this version as well, but i`m pretty sure they will fix the issue soon. (the updates are very often).

Played it a number of years ago. It's essentially a clone of Frontier (Elite 2), but much expanded in terms of graphics and numbers of different ships, produced in a time when most of us figured Elite was dead after the non-success of First Encounters.

Very worth your time imo. I lost about five years of my life to Frontier back in the day.

I am waiting until they release a version without any bugs. Until now every time i tried the game i had a CTD at some point in the game.

But i am very anxious for such a release because back in the DOS days i was a huge Elite Frontier fan.

Hmm, must be the October version, the one I tried was the previous from August and that worked fine. (Window 7 64bits, 32bits version of the game only sadly).

Have you tried the latest git version? I suppose you are using pulse audio. I have had sound problems in the past but its working (almost)fine on latest git build. I still have random sound bugs when I crash. And yes the music in that game is beautiful
