andrew123
This trailer is awesome! I guess the avatar series transitions from more of a childish fun show to a game of thrones esque political espionage thriller. (And did I mention... TOPH.) It seems Bolin is a high ranking metal clan officer, there's a three year jump, and a reference from Kuvira's army / invasion to the Communist Revolution in China which overthrew the Kuomintang Party. If President Raiko's inspiration was Sun Yat-sen, then Mao/Lenin/Kuvira/Hitler is going to make his life quite miserable. Kuvira... anyone getting a marxist vibe...I mean, the Metal Clan's military looks like the Third Reich before Operation Barbarossa, or one of their Nuremberg Rallies. (It also looks like the North Korean invasion of South Korea, considering both the Metal Clan/Earth Kingdom are technically the same people.)I guess the Fire Nation's an analogue to the United States after WWII: Most of the world's gold reserves, half of the global GDP, advanced technology, and a huge industrial base. Pearl harbor/Dunkirk Evacuation, anyone?Yalta Conference, much?Varrick with some weird vial/generator thingies.Korra's liquid metal hallucination was probably from the swamp:http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/The_Swamp(I do hate communists, though. They seized all of my Grandfather's assets, which included a huge swath of land, killed most of his family, and forced him to flee to South Korea... where he became a ROK colonel. ) Edited September 27, 2014 by andrew123
Skyler4856
Gosh diddly darn it, if this is accurate, then Bryan and Dante did their research.
Omicron314
(On your last remark): To be fair, though, communism has never been practiced by any nation to my knowledge. If I remember correctly, communism requires the abolishment of social classes, money, and finally the state. The USSR, the PRC, the DPRK, Vietnam, Laos - none of these nations have done that. You hate totalitarians masquerading as communists, whom I hate as well, but I don't think anyone can safely say they've actually met a person from a communist nation.Nevertheless, I look forward to this season. Very exciting-looking.
Vanamonde
Sorry to be a wet blanket, but politics (and political allegories like this) invariably goes bad, and has therefore been ruled off-limits for our forum (2.2.b).
